Default Jaguar X-type automatic transmission problem

Hello everybody,

I have a Jaguar X-type 2.0 v6 from 2003 with the 5 gear transmission, but there is a big problem.
The gears 4, 5 and R won´t go.
What could be the problem?
Additionally the ABS lamp lights and the stability controll has an error.
Is there maybe a connection between?

Maybe someone can help me?

I had exactly this issue with a previous BMW 330i auto.
It was a reluctor ring/wheel sensor issue.
You’ll need to run a diagnostic check and read the fault codes.

But how can I check the wheel sensors by my self with out reading out fault codes?

In my opinion, only by lengthy process of elimination and getting a car on a ramp or inspection pit to take a look.
if you possibly can, my advice would be to get it to a garage and have them read the codes or to buy the little box of tricks (which I think are fairly cheap these days) and have a go yourself.
Otherwise these symptoms could reflect any number of things, particularly if it’s something electrical.

I bought a device to read out the fault codes.
First I cleard all codes. Then I drove a little bit, and know there are two codes :
P0733 and P0734 incorrect ratio.

What could be the problem?

I already searched the whole forum...

Maybe anyone know what this codes have to do with the reverse gear, because when I go into reverse it is like neutral.
But when I do the car on a ramp, so that the wheels can turn free and go in reverse, the wheels turn correctly, only that no force is transmitted. It's like the clutch is not closing.
