Quinn, just be careful of people selling lugnuts. Some like to think that you can take an SAE set and make it work for a metric set. While close, they are not exact. So, keep an eye out for that. Otherwise, the other thing you need to pay attention to is how the lugnut makes contact with the rim. Some use a tapered edge to make contact where others us a washer and push on the side of the rim. Atleast my factory rims require a lugnut that pushes the rim against the hub, not using a tapered lugnut to provide the clamping force.

Default Oh Those Lug Nuts...

When I took delivery of my '03 2.5 X-Type, I also purchased 20 new lug nuts and always take my Jag to a Certified Master Mechanic. I also shared in numerous posts in this Forum, that my Mechanic told me to purchase the correct socket so if I am on the road and have a flat I will have the proper socket, as AAA might not. When looking at X-Types (on your used car lot) it is always a good idea to check the tires! Many X-Types have different tires; this is a good indicator that the lug nuts have been ruined. I believe that this is not a poor design, but owners who are not informed and do not have the correct tool (or knowledgeable Mechanic) thus, ruined lug nuts. Good luck to you all and this is a great Forum. (My Jag, my current and my former Mazdas.)

Exclamation

I've noticed in some of the earlier posts mentioning 100 ft/lbs as the correct torque. According to my info the factory recommendation is 76 ft/lbs.

Default x type broken locking wheel nut key

Hi all I have the problem with the locking key breaking
I tried every thing to get it off no luck , I took the car to a friend who welded the dome to the wheel lock then a nut onto the dome and we were able to remove the wheel

I now have a new key and have a steel sleeve around it this will prevent it from breaking
