Default Is the Navigation DVD player for '06-'07 the same as an early '05?

Hi folks, my Navigation DVD player is dead. It is part number 2R83 10E 887. (Denso 462100 - 8116)
I've found a player from a 2007 for sale at an online salvage yard but it has no part number in the description and the seller is (for some reason) not saying what the part number is and didn't respond to my specific inquiry. But he gave me pictures of it and it sure seems to be the same unit visually.
Is anyone aware of any player differences between early 2005 and the later models? My VIN is E41461 if that matters.

The dash screen display when I enter the diagnostic code will display the GPS coordinates and will do a fiber optic path check. So the dash display appears to be working in Nav mode. The actual module in the trunk will not accept a disc at all. I checked the wiring harness and have 12v going into the player module. I removed the module and opened it up and looked for any signs of damage or obvious solder faults. It looks good but shows no signs of life. It wasn't working when I bought the car so I don't know what caused this.

Still looking for an answer to the compatibility question.

Hey Tom, I tried to do some checking for you and the new unit that I found said it was for 05 and up starting with a Vin in the 50,000 range, so after yours, and crazy expensive (from Jaguar dealer). I'm sorry not sure either but I did see a system on ebay for 400, and it looks like a reputable seller. They state it works with 02 - 05, so that should be in your Vin production run.

Well hopefully that's some help. I'm sure you'll get a better answer, but check out that listing and the sellers reputation.

Ebay item #220987322648

Good luck, Wes

I checked pages and even more pages of threads and did not see any information about year compatibility.
So...any specific knowledge to share is still welcome and appreciated.

And Dennis, do you have a spare DVD player I could try?

Thanks,
Tom

You're asking in the wrong forum (please stop) and I've replied in your other thread asking it.

Thanks JagV8, appreciate the rule reminder to him.

I'm still looking for any guidance on the compatibility of the early vs. later DVD units.
The later ones are easier to find and sometimes at very good prices but since the sellers don't accept returns I have to be confident in my purchase.

Here's an update to my situation.

Today I received a DVD player that I purchased on E-bay. It was from a 2003 model so I never learned if the later model x-type DVD units are compatible.

But I now have a working Navigation system and I am quite happy.
