Alvin, as I recall, the factory tips are just chrome tips. I would recommend getting your hands on some 3M Perfect-It III (Grade 2). That should do you wonders with that. A little on the expensive side, but this product will work on all of your car (body, glass, chrome, wheels). I love the product. You use this stuff and then wax your car, it will look practically new as all the fine scratches will be gone.
The other product you may want try is NevrDul. It is a cotton ball soaked in a polishing compound. Good stuff. Takes a little bit of elbow grease, but I have seen it pull off some miracles. It is cheaper than the 3M stuff, but also is much more limited than what the 3M product is.

ALvin, get your hands on some rubbing compound and then rip some terry cloth into 2" wide strips. PUt some rubbing compound on the exhaust tip and then wrap the terry cloth half way around the tip. From there, push-pull the terry cloth back and forth across the exhaust tip (like you were polishing some shoes). Work up and down the tip and then you can also work around the tip to polish the sides too. The harder you pull on the terry, the more cutting that you will do. Just don't pull too hard as there is a rubber mount near the end of the exhaust system and I would hate to see you rip the mount.
I use Brasso. I clean them about every other wash. I use a papertowel to apply, rub, buff and then another papertowel for a final buff. Good luck!

I would first take a couple of damp microfiber cloths and dampen them. Then I would gently go around the tips, changing or rinsing as they got dirty to remove the gritty stuff. Then I would dry them off.
Next, I would take some Wenol or Semichrome and rub it on thick. Let it sit for 30 minutes or so. Go back and wipe it off to aid in removing the rust. Then I would work the metal polish into a clean microfiber cloth and proceed to rub the tips briskly.
By removng the grit and rust first, This may prevent those fine scratches that sometimes reduce the sheen.
Hope this helps.
