I just bought a 2005 Jag XT with approx. 143K on the odometer. Pretty good condition overall. Did have a few codes P0447, P0455, and P1646. All emission stuff. Got the car for a steal (less than 1K) so not worried. Has anyone had experience with these? Are they related? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know that model; this forum is for X Type Owners, not XJ etc. They have separate sections here.

Sorry guys. I'll slowly learn the rules. Each enthusiast forum is different. I did post in the new members area. So hello! Sorry for not understanding the different model types. The car is a 2005 X-type but the registration showed XTY . Duh probably short for X-Type! It has 143000 on it and is an automatic with a 3.0 liter 6. I guess I'm used to the other car forums after being around for so long. My experience has been there are specific issues each model has and sharing ones experience helps greatly even for a seasons mechanic like me. For instance there was a Ford Cougar my client had and it had been to 3 shops. No one could figure out why the error codes weren't corrected by replacing the parts indicated. He had 6 O2 sensors changed! Probably a bad one they said. I, through a more detailed analysis (and not a freaking parts changer) was able to determine it was the ECU. Replaced it with one from the bone yard and everything was cleared. That's why I posed the question about those error codes on this car. Many times they are related and to be able to use other's experience saves time and frustration. Thanks for all your patience!

Welcome to the forums. The P0447 and P0455 are related. Looks like the purge canister valve. The P1646 is an HO2 upstream sensor on Bank 1.

Attached is a PDF for all the Jaguar P codes. Hope you can get this all sorted quickly. Doesn't sound like anything major.

Default Need additional help please

Well forum members, surprisingly the O2 sensor came out easier than expected even though I had to put my contortionist suit on! Have the new one in and going to track down the other P0447 and P0455 code supposedly having to do with the purge valve. Need to find the location first! anyway when removing items to access the O2 sensor, I also took out the battery and tray. Dangling from the main harness to the fuse block was a wire (that comes out of the fuse block loom. It is a 2 pin connector. Has a blue and green wire. Have no idea if this is for some component the car doesn't have, or it came off somewhere (maybe the purge valve). Any clues?

Correction: has a blue wire and a green wire with a blue stripe. If I don't get lucky with the purge valve (like a cracked hose of a missing connector) where would be a good place to source it except from the dealer. I also read that it is the same valve as a 2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 Liter. Anyone confirm this too?

Hi Deldolfan.
I believe you will find this connector is to do with the transportation of the vehicle to the original showroom. There should be a small clip on the back of the battery box that holds this connector. You can forget about this connector as it is no longer required.
Hope this helps.

For parts identification forum sponsor SNG Barratt's downloadable catalog is good. They also have a printed version that they'll mail you at no charge that's really handy to have. Once you have the Jaguar part number you can shop around - it'd make sense to check SNG Barratt first IMO.
