oil in header tank

Default oil in header tank

hi guys first post please bare with me this afternoon i decided to check the oil in my wifes x type 2 diesel was a little low so top up required i went to check the header tank and discovered it was filled with oil worst fears head gasket! ! does anyone else know what it could be.the head gasket doesn't seem to have any cake or coolant on the dipstick or oil cap im a little confused.com

The oil cooler that is part of the oil filter housing has feed and return water hoses on it, I wonder if the oil is getting into the cooling system there. The oil pressure is greater than the pressure in the cooling system so even a tiny pin hole caused by corrossion would let oil into the cooling system.
Just my thoughts on the problem.

Me again sorry the fans in the car even with a on are only blowing cold air could this have anything to do with oil in the header tank ? Think so far it's a trip to our garage tomorrow
