I imagine the gear oil is just too cold. Seems like in 2nd gear from 30 down to 20. Anyone else hear a siren noise? It is not from the engine. LOL....below zero makes cars sound so unusual.

Still driving like a tank though. Heated seats, snow tires.....cranking it this morning was rough since it is parked outside in the snow. Normal for any car parked outside below zero.

Yeah, I get a loud howl as well.. Seems like it's from the front end though. Had wheel bearings replaced and it's still evident - so definitely a cold weather thing.

Do keep in mind that any noise occurring in the drivetrain after the gearbox (transfer case, propshaft, rear differential) should not be affected by whichever gear (if any) you're on at the time.

Are your noises anything like this? It's a well-known issue without a well-known fix.

This may or may not help, didn't with mine.

Not much else you can realistically try:
Umm. Funny noise. Propshaft anyone?

The dealer will replace the whole propshaft. That is about $900-$1000. Some guys have reported greasing the bearing works, others not. More annoying than anything. And as far as I know Jaguar never addressed the issue through the model years. Pretty much it is not IF it will happen to your car, but WHEN. I have a 2005 and bought it in 2008 with 42K and still under warranty. That first winter mine did that and it was replaced under warranty. Was fine until this winter where it is just starting to howl again a bit 5 years and 80+K miles later.

Anyone try spraying the hell out of that bearing with a can of WD-40? I was thinking of doing that to mine. I greased it last year with a grease gun/needle and all that seemed to do was change the speed at which I start to hear the noise. Unless I did it wrong...

Call your jag dealer. Ill bet they wont want to do anything. Mine didn't, they knew what it was over the phone. Said that problem will reoccur within 2 yrs. Its the design. Rubber gets cold and stiff. I had them do mine in November. I can already hear a little noise already. Its been quite cold here. I tried grease and needle didn't help me. Next time im gonna try spray lithum grease on rubber.
