Electrical Guide has parts locations on the page prior to the diagram.

Figure 18.1 states that the Parking Aid Rear Sounder is located 'Estate-Left Hand Rear Quarter Panel, Interior Trim'.

Is there any way to check the module itself. I checked the sensors, they make high pitch noise so it is either a speaker or a module. Since there is no initial "dong" when he car is placed in reverse, I am assuming it is a speaker. In my experience, speakers don't fail very often so I am kinda questioning myself. I hate taking trim off, always manage to break it.

thx

Probably a stupid question , but is this considered to be Left Hand Rear Quarter Panel?

The module is on the vehicle network so the DTCs can be read by a proper diagnistic computer (B codes).

The part with the arrow is called the D/E pillar.

I have never looked for the sounder but I would look for it in the side trim behind the rear seats.

Looks like I need to invest in a better code reader (currently have ELM327). I would like to be able to read ABS codes as well. Based on what I was able to find out the below two options would do the job without breaking the bank:

http://www.autelsale.com/wholesale/autel-maxicheck-pro.html

https://www.harborfreight.com/can-ob...abs-60794.html

Any recommendations, I would like to stay below $200 if possible.

Ok, so for future references there are two possible locations for the parking aid speaker, please see attached. Assuming VIN range refers to the last six characters of the VIN, I unfortunately need to follow the second procedure. I have no idea why it calls for removal of the headliner all the way from the back and destroying the weather stripping in the process. My plan is to try accessing it from the side. But before I start tearing it apart I am planning to get the code reader recommended above to make sure the module itself is working properly.

Ok so with the help of iCarsoft i930 I was able to download the following codes:
C1742 rear sounder circuit failure
B2477 control module configuration failure

Surprisingly, parking aid started to work again. Maybe because I messed around with the module connection? By the sound of it, the speaker is located above the sub woofer on the right hand side of the trunk. I cleared the codes and will keep on eye to see if it working.

Since I got my new toy, I looked at other available fault codes. Unfortunately there are quite a few:
B2408-speaker line short circuit
B1A65-left heated mirror failure
B1A66-right heated mirror failure
B2308-in car temperature inlet motor failure
B1263-vent servo motor circuit failure
B1262 defrost servo motor circuit failure
B1239 air flow blen door actuator circuit failure
B1242 recirculating air flow door actuator circuit failure
B1676 battery voltage out of range

I think majority of it could be contributed to the dead battery that was replaced recently and to the fact that I was pulling fuses to check for continuity while troubleshooting.

Should I clear these codes??? I have no idea how long ago they came in and if they mean anything any more??

Know this is a few months old, but, yup, a dead battery can set all of these. Clear them, and check in a few days to see if they come back.

If you have a light on in the car while you're reading the codes, it will show a courtesy light lamp short, too!
