Please Help - Nav out, heater stuck on,
If anyone has experienced anything similar please advise.
Wednesday went out of town, car worked perfect. Started my 2002 x-type 3.0 this morning for work and nav screen out. Tried to restart,still nothing. nothing is working except the volume control knob. Car drives fine. Nothing at all when I touch the screen, and the heat is locked on the last setting, which was high hot!! This did happen once with the screen 3 months ago, but the restart corrected on the next try. Any idea of cause.
The greendisplayunder the navigation screen is blinking in three different sequences on the right side:
1 -c1
2- 50
3- 51
????????? I have no idea what is going on, maybe someone does. FYI - I AM NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED AT ALL

I dont have part # for nav reader but it is in the trunk
you know the thing you put the DVD discinto
and if possible i"d try and plug and play a unit before purchasing one
i think the other guy just paid 700.00 for his?
lot of money to be out if its not the fault
not sure about Ebay return policies

I have a 2003 x type with 40,000 miles . The screen is locked and the car appears to be in the defrost mode . I can not change the blower speed . The dealer scanned the car and recorded the following codes ; u1900 , c1279 , p1582 , u1900ip . The dealer said the car has a communication problem . They checked the ecu for moisture and found it dry. The car has a lot of rust at the outer box sections ( rocker panels ) and at the base of the a pillars . I suspect an electrical connection may be rotted but I do not know where to start

I r+r the nav disc several times and ended up with messages ;communication fault please consult dealer ,engine off no ac available.l do get the menu display but I get no response to;recirculation, defrost , ac , auto , hot/ cold buttons , blower speeds . I do have response to audio . As I said earlier I feel it is stuck in defrost mode. Is this a default setting? The car also has a check Engine light with a D C T 1699 .

If you ejected the disk and the condition did not reboot, the disk has gone bad (VERY rare), the more likely cause is the dvd unit died. The programming for the screen and a/c-heat controls are on the disk. Audio has nothing to do with the disk software. Lots of people have fraked around in the hidden menu and "accidentally" pushed the s/w (software update) which gives you the 50-51 error and blank screen. The fix for that is the same = eject and reload the disk. I assume you have already checked for a blown fuse. Fuse box diagram is on first page in the "stickies" section to look for/find the correct fuse.

Your DCT1699 converts to the correct OBD code id P1699 which is a canbus code for ECU and CCM communication fault. There could be a fault in the wiring or modules.
