Positive Battery Cable Blue Blue/Yellow and White Wires
There are a blue/yellow and white wires with a green connector that I have heard connects to my battery box for shipping purposes, I guess to maintain the battery. The wire go under the fuse box. The reason I am trying to verify this is because I need to change my cables and had to cut them, so do I need to soder them/reconnect them or is a dead line?
Thanks!
Thanks!
You are correct, there is a 2 pin connector that clips onto the battery box not connected to anything electrically. No need to solder or reconnect but I would definitely wrap the loose ends in electrical tape or do something similar so they don't short out to the car body. My understanding is the connector is used in transit to maintain charge in the battery so one of those wires connects to the positive side of the battery.
Technically, the connector and related transit relay effectively disconnects the battery from the car during transit.
Shipping companies demand that the battery is disconnected for safety reasons. (LIKE FIRE?)
The ignition key completes the circuit to energize the car for moving it around but disconnects again with KEY OFF.
Here is an example from the S-Type product info student guide.
