Default Proud new owner seeks CD changer advice

Hi - seems a great place to hang out and seek advice since FINALLY getting my very own Jaguar. I'm thrilled but would love to fit a CD changer. My question is, can I fit a CD changer from an older Jag (2001-2007) into my refresh 2008 Jag. I have touch screen audio controls. I understand I'll need brackets which should allow me to place it directly above my DVD sat nav, but also an optical cable ? In regard to this do some older CD changers have different power connectors ? Are all connections just hidden behind covers and I can pop the new optical cable in ?

Apologies for the "join just to ask" but I am planning on visiting this board quite a lot, and appreciate any help.
Regards
Bucky

I'd imagine the Jag CD changer should fit your Jag.
I took mine out because my 2002 had a cassette player and I changed it for an in-dash CD. Sold the trunk CD changer, with all the brackets on ebay.
It's all plug-and-play. Check your car, the optical cable may be there.
I'll take a look today and see if my old optical cables are easily removed. If they are I'll let you know and we can make some kind of a deal.

Thanks for the reply Flyrr100. I took the plunge and bought it anyway...nothing ventured as they say.
As for the harnesses, I took a quick peek today but haven't fully removed the DVD Sat Nav unit so couldn't be sure if the harnesses were already in situ. I've seen the leads on ebay pretty cheap, but as you say they may already be there. Happy to PM you if I need the leads and you have a spare going. Thanks again

The power lead for the changer will be there wrapped up behind the DVD drive, assuming you've got the Fibre optic cable you'll have to daisy chain it into the system. Sat Nav drive unit first then CDC.

The Sat Nav unit has to recognise the CDC so you'll have to go into the Sat Nav hidden menu and find "Options" and then hit the CDC button.

I'm a wee bit confused.......the fibre optic cable ( the white one) is attached to the DVD Dive, take the DVD Drive out, you'll see the two fibre optic wires going in, press the black catch in the middle of the connector. hey presto it comes out......
Now you'll have to attach a new Fibre Optic cable to the existing one..( easy job, the connectors come apart).then daisy chain into the CDC in the correct order as given previously......now you have power in and the fibre optic in.......now to head unit options....you'll see CDC option......simply tick it....job done!

No worries - thanks for trying

Thanks Barry W...I've just purchased the cable and hope it's the right one. Can you confirm it is and if not a link to the correct cable I should get? Cheers

That's the one, now........the 2 wire fire optic cables comes in from the side of the car, one of the two fibre optic cables " flows" in.the other " flows" out ...so you have to organise the Fibre Optic cable so that the first connection is to the CDC then to SAT Nav as in a daisy chain..

Hope this makes sense.........I'm sure this must have been covered before as this is a common upgrade. ( by someone more eloquent than me!)

Bucky,

I've just checked again.
the daisy chain Fibre Optic should run..........
cabin ( from the car) to CDC to Phone to Voice to NAV to AMP back to cabin.

Ok, assuming you don't have all the other bits and pieces.yours will be as follows

Cabin ( from the car ) to CDC then daisy chain to Nav then back to cabin...

Just remember, you'll have to go into the Touch Screen options, so the system will recognise the additional CDC.

Hope this makes sense.
