Question about transfercase
Just purchased this 03 2.5L I have no issue with it, but is there any proactive maintenance that should be done eg; changing any fluids, adjustments. Pardon my ignorance I'm very familiar with my XK8 but going to have to learn this moter. I was warned before I purchased this car that the AWD can be an issue.
thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers

jeremys, do some searching here for "transfer case drain valve". You will find a few posts with a few variations on the same theme. In short, the fill port is located such that you have to drop the transfer case to refill it. Not a realistic thing to do. So, you end up having to fill the transfer case through the drain hole. The 3 options are:
-tilt the car such that you create enough room to put in the 500 ml of fluid
-use a one way check valve to allow the fluid to go in and not leak out, or
-adapt a radiator drain valve to allow you to use a stand pip to add fluid and then shut the valve with the fluid trapped in the case.
As for other things that need to be done, this would be it. There is nothing that can be adjusted on it. So, a fluid change and you are good. Keep in mind that you should use 75W-140 full synthetic gear lube in the transfer case.
