Long story short, I backed into my garage and my rear lower bumper cover (possibly referred to as lower valence, it's the black plastic piece just above the exhaust tips that houses the reverse sensors on the models equipped with the feature) cracked on my 2002 X Type Sport. I'm wondering if the bumper covers (they came with reverse sensors or without reverse sensors depending on your X-Type's features) are interchangable. The question being will either type just bolt right up to the factory bumper? The only reason I'm just not going ahead and getting the one with the reverse sensor holes is that 2 of my reverse sensors have stopped working and definitely need to be replaced. I would rather not pay almost $100 for each of the two sensors to have them stop working on me at any time plus have to buy the lower bumper cover yet besides. I understand that by not replacing the sensors I will hear the *beeeeeeeeeeep* every time I put it into reverse and I am fine with that. So, if I purchase the black plastic lower bumper cover/valence WITHOUT the reverse sensor holes, will it bolt right up to my factory bumper that was equipped the black plastic lower bumper cover/valence WITH the reverse sensor holes? They'd have to be the same. I would call the dealer to confirm, but the bumper was unchanged for the entire run of the car - until they killed them with the 2008 style bumper "update".

I would also diable the parking sensor altogether. This is something I was also thinking about doing just to clean up the rear bumper a bit. I find the park sensor more annoying than helpful.
