Default rough cold start

My 04 xtype is starting very rough. Once it's starting to warm up, it seems to run fine, and starting again after errands, it starts, and runs just fine. Hubby is out of town right now, and if I can get pointed in the right direction, I would like to solve this.

Thanks for all your help.

Likely a vacuum leak. This thread discussed the top 3: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...1/#post1309725

The leak you have is most likely #3 (IMTT O-rings), or #1 (PVC breather hose) because they're made or rubber which stiffens in the cold, so it doesn't seal as well and more air leaks by.

Both are relative common and easy to fix. Do you have a trustworthy independent mechanic who works on Fords? Show him this post and the attached links, and he should be able to quickly find and fix the leak for you.

Let us know if you, the hubby or mechanic has any questions, and we'll help you from there.

thank you again, i watched a couple of youtube videos on how to change the o-rings. I ordered them, and replaced them myself. Felt pretty darn good. Again, many thanks!

So, did that solve the issue and is the car running well again?

Congrats! Feels good and builds confidence when you figure it out and fix it yourself.
