Smile Strut towers

While exploring the engine compartment of my car today I notice on the strut towers pieces of somewhat sturdy metal bolted to the tower and then to the fenders. Is this the British version of a strut tower brace?Or is it a piece of metal to mount the fender to? I put tower brace on a BMW I had back in the 90's but it was bolted to the towers and ran between the towers. They keep a car from leaning in turns and stiffen up the front end, in the case of the Bimmer, quite a bit.

If you want less lean I highly recommend my sway bars. HUGE difference. We can go for a ride in my car sometime if you want to see...

Thanks anyway but I have no complaints over the lean of my car in turns, as it doesn't.
