there's no trick, you lower it with your hand to a distance of about 1 foot or less from the original position, let it go and let gravity do the job for you. if you let it go when it's high up, it will slam down with a lot of force, and may bounce back a little.

Hey mate, no disrespect, but I'm unlocking this. If you ask to re-lock, I'll do so. I just feel that our buddies' problem wasn't finding out how! I think he might have a slightly different problem, such as a bad latch, or maybe something else other than not knowing he has to drop it from a slightly higher position. My children could figure that out, and they're like...not even born yet! LMAO!

IMO, I find it interesting thatmoderators seem to delight in closing topics whenever it suitsthem when lots of additional information may be forthcoming.

I had an issue, got answers and suggestions, was asked to "get back" to the forum with a report of success or failure, and the discussion was closed and locked. I couldn't report my success or failure.

Is there a band width problem or some other problem that causes this early topic closing behavior or am I missing something?

 

Hey trader.........mods don't "delight" in closing down any topic as you say, far from it, as the more discussion, the better for all.
I'm also unsure as to what thread exactly you are referring to?
Its not so much early closing of a topic, more, usually the topic has been discussed and answered. The reason for closure is to try and limit the same topics dragging on when in reality the query has been answered some time ago.
Closing these means that new threads will inevitably open up on new topics keeping the forum fresh.
Anything esle, please feel free to ask and either myself or Biggie will be only to glad to help.

I agree with Jim! All members have the authority to open and close threads! All you have to do is ask! Unfortunately, we have the reputation to go WAY off topic, so we like to close topics in hopes of preventing threads from dragging on for up to 10 pages! It's helpful for everyone, because when someone has a problem, it helps the senior members and mods find things easier! Also, fresh topics are easier for creating good conversations and discussions! Don't feel like we "delight" in closing topics, because if you notice, we rarely do it! It's just means for smoother operating! If you noticed, I politely asked Jim if I could unlock this so that the newbie might come back and respond. Not that I expect him to...after all, he is a newbie! However, believe it or not, even our great Jimbo was a newbie once, for like a day. Then the post ***** had like 200 posts that same day!

my hood is difficult to close i have to hold the latch open then force it too close. Its a PITA

 

Not good bud! I would unbolt the latch and play with it a bit!

 

Peewee.......is it stiff? I'm assuming you've tried an it operates nice n smooth? Possibly the latch is left in the closed position and needs lubricated?

If thats the case try contacting the dealer and report the problems you now have. If it was something pre existing that they knew about and have "fixed" they should be obligated to fix it to your satisfaction.
