Us old geezers like to poke the newbs to using a fluid that nobody has tried yet. Then, if the integrity of your transmission holds after a few thousand miles, we will know what fluid to use over here in the US. You see, us geezers have 15 fluid list and so far 3 have been failures resulting in the owner's tranny taking a dump...

[8D] I'm kidding, we really have no idea.If anything Dennis should know the latest and greatest fluid to use, but likely he hasn't changed his yet, neither!!!

Hey man, where you been?..Good to see you.

And my list is still at a stalemate like the last time we spoke...Our latest jag tech only uses the dealer's liquid gold..so I'm still at square 1[:@]

Oh you know....here and there. One day in TX at school, the next in the Mogadishu of the midwest!

Hah, my money is that the day our transmissions finally crap out, somebody out there will find a fluid that is compatible to the Jatco fluid. [&:]

Hope your holidays were good, Dennis.

Wouldn't it be a kick if we find out years from now that we could have used the WalMart brand of tranny fluid? [:-]

As I have written here before I am looking at a 2003 X-Type for purchase. I called Collier Jaguar today in Orlando and asked the service "advisor" and he told me the transmission was a sealed unit. Am I an idiot or what? Or is he? Oh by the way the 60,000 mile service was quoted at $300. Oil, lube, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, and "check" vehicle for leaks, brakes etc. $300 oil change? What oil do you use?

the oil change should only be about $100. The dealer is charging you for the pollen filter, air filter, and labor for them to check this and check that. I just check the stuff myself and change my own air filter. I do let someone else change the oil.

Lol, you're opening up another can of worms on here!!!! The issue of full syn/blend/Castrol dino has been debated on here numerous times, as well. $300 does seem a bit outrageous though, IMO. Just DIY or buy your own oil and take it to a lube shop. An oil change is an oil change on any friggin' car.

And to the comment about Walmart brand fluid, it's called Supertech. I have been using it for three years on my DD w/95k miles on it (also their Synthetic oil ain't too shabby if you can't find a good deal and are in a pinch). Do I know where the fluid is coming from? Hell no, but the damn stuff works (actually, it's probably Warren Dist.), but regardless, the crap works! [8D]
