Jag02X, if you use the keyfob to open the trunk, can you hear the trunk motor try to operate the latch? If not, then you are going to have to remove the rear seat and undo the bottom of the seat back and pull the bottom out far enough to reach up and pull the seat release. From there you will be crawling through the seat opening and removing the cover off of the trunk and getting at the motor that way.

One other thing that you can try is to access the GEM module and if you look, you should see an orange wire on PIN 2 of the connector to the GEM module. You will need to make a jumper wire to run from a power source (capable of handling about 5 amps) to PIN 2. When you touch the wire to PIN 2, this should force the trunk to unlatch. If the trunk does not come unlatched, then that pretty much confirms you have a bad trunk motor. If it does come undone, then you have a problem with your GEM module.

jagX, yes, the remote has a battery in it. But, if you can unlock the doors, then the battery should be good enough to pop the trunk.

A lot of folks, including me, rigged a 'pull release' system.
Take off the luminous handle from Inside the trunk. Replace it with a long wire tie thingy and poke the end out of one of the holes under your license tag. Make sure it's not visible. When you need to get into the trunk, bend up or remove the tag and pull the tie. It works.
Somewhere on here there's a set of instructions with pictures.
