Unhappy Windshield

I rained here in the PM. I went to Rock'y hardware to buy a couple of items. When I came out, and my car was parked in the handicapped spot. It was pouring rain. I got in started the car up and was just about to put on the wipers. For some reason I looked up and saw no wiper blade on the passenger side??? and a cracked in the windshield. I got out of the car went around to the passenger side and there is the wiper laying on the ground, broken at the attachment point.Looks like some B-----d pulled if off and drop the arm on the windshield and it cracked it and spider cracked a like about 4 inches long. I went to the auto store, across the street, got an blade and stood in the pouring rain to put it on. Now I have to call the insurance company and deal with them. Glass is a no fault item in Ma, no cost to replace either, but getting the insurance company to OK can be a hassle. I really had a great weekend. I fell in the living room in the morning, I think I bruised my rib and perhaps broke my large toe. I didn't go t the ER as I didn't want to sit there all day. I have a regular appointment with a doctor tomorrow, so I will mention this to him.

Adam, I would venture to guess that someone did not see your handicap plates/placard and decided to do some "road justice". But, in your case, it was uncalled for. You don't "accidentally" pull something like that off of a car. I wish you luck in getting things fixed. Hopefully you can get things taken care of in no time and with no more problems.

Can't imagine who would want to get " road justice" on me. I am a quiet, good driver and don't bother anyone when I am out. But these cars stick out, and I think it was a random event. Someone or someones saw a Jaguar and figures this person is rich lets mess their car up, Oh and he/she is handicapped, more fun.

Sorry to hear about your windshield.

But, the good side to this is that there is nothing nicer to drive behind, than a brand new windshield, properly cleaned.

I can't argue with that.

Angry Windshield update

The installer can't find a aftermarket windshield for my car, reason is since 2004 Jaguar made standard rain sensors and my 03 does not have rain sensors. I checked myself with Jaguar Hartford, and the parts manager, a neighbor, told me the same thing. Long story short, it comes down to price, the insurance company does not want to pay dealer price, as the car is "too old." The company told me if I want the factory windshield I would have to pay the difference of what they allow and what the cost of a OEM windshield is. I wrote a blistering email to Jaguar USA and told them of this situation, I can't wait to hear back from them and they will answer you back, as I had a go around with them a few weeks back about the HID headlights auto level feature not working and the expense of replacement, they basically told me too bad it is your problem, out of warranty. They even admitted, "we heard there were a few problems, not many, with the auto level" but not enough to warrant a free replacement."

Question

Adam, do you have the auto-dimming rear view mirror?

I had a new front screen put in a few weeks back.
My car has the rain sensor, and the auto-dimming mirror.
The installer was convinced he had the wrong screen because there was no "window" for the rain sensor. Turns out that all X-Type screens have the window, but it's blacked out & needs to be exposed by scraping away a black plastic film with a razor blade. The screen had a black plastic surface-mounted bracket for mounting the mirror. I'd hope that it'll be the same in the US, where the part number said "with rain sensor" but the actual screen fit's those without too, cause the window is covered in black film.

I call the state insurance commission offices in Boston, told a women the entire story. Two hours later I get a call from the Jaguar dealer saying they are shipping up a brand new Jaguar windscreen to the installer. I called the installer and he was told to install a OEM windscreen by the insurance company and there would be not extra charge between the allotment and cost. I called back the commissioner's office and spoke to the same woman I talked to earlier in the day. She simple said I called your insurance company and gave them the information and they told me the same story as they told your installer. She then said by order of the Commissioner's office you will install a OEM windshield in Mr Lueb's car and you will not charge him any installation fees or differences in price between aftermarket and OEM. She said she was about to confirm in writing to the insurance company and all parties involved. About an hour later I received a copy of the email she sent. Now that's what taxes should be doing taking care of service to the citizen. I said thank you for very much, she said that's what we are here for, never hesitate to call us with any type of insurance problem of question, that's why we are here.

" I'm so happy, so happy as can be.................. What Doo Wop hit were these lines from ? Winner gets ? Nothing, I am sorry to say.

I am thinking about changing to Liberty Mutual my daughter works for them as a para legal and the family discount plan is great, I got a quote of $399.98 for a year, with includes comp, liability, tow and all the usually stuff, now I pay around $500 plus for the same coverage. On liability I have the highest coverage allowed by the state and on present policy I have no tow or car rental, Liberty mutual included these for that price.
