X-Type 2002 2.5
Greetings from Shipley. Just paid a load of dosh to get me headlight fixed. On return discovered my reversing lights are not working. Is replacement of reversing light switch a difficult job. Jag manual says it is easy.
Also diagnostic shows fault 1647 heated oxygen sensor control module bank 2 open /short circuit. Is it worth doing this one myself or should I leave it to the so called experts?
Hope someone can advise.
Gerry.

Gerry1, see my post in your other listing about testing the reverse lights before you get going too far. hate to see you replace the switch for no good reason.
As for replacing the switch (assuming you have a manual tranny as the auto gear box does not have this switch), you will need to remove the battery and tray from the car. This will give you access to the top of the tranny. You will see 2 wires coming down to the top of the tranny, unplug these wires and then using the appropriate size socket, spin out the switch. Install the new and get it snug, but don't go really tight (you can damage the switch). Put the car back together and you are done.
On a side note, because you are in England, you will want to make sure you have the radio code handy as the radio will have lost power and it is going to ask for the number to allow the radio to work again. Also, you are going to find that all your windows have lost their memory (ie, will not auto up/down). To reset this, simply start with the windows either all the way up or all the way down (doesn't matter, just not in some mid position). Now, take the window to the opposite position by pushing the window switch and holding it. Once the window reached the end of travel, keep holding the button for another 3-5 seconds (you may hear a relay click). Release the switch. Now, take the window in the other direction and again, keep holding the switch for 3-5 seconds after the window reaches the end of travel. Repeat for each window.
