X Type Drive Belt Noise
Hello,
My quest to bring my Jag X type 2.5 with 140000 KM into better then it was condition is continuing!!
At present I am experiencing a strange knocking noise coming from the area of the Water Pump, Pulley or Tensioner . This is the belt behind the battery box on the engine. The area that has just the larger Pulley is seeping oil, the pulley itself is also kinda loose and wobbles....
Has anyone had a similar issue with this area around this pulley having a leak?
Has any one replaced this part or the pulley if it has a wobble??

G'day Striker,
Of the three pulleys on that side of the engine the largest one is driven by a coupling from the front camshaft and by the belt drives the water pump. The small pulley towards the rear of the engine is the water pump pulley and the small pulley towards the front of the engine is the spring loaded belt tensioner.
Have you tried tightening the three bolts which secure the large pulley? Maybe they have worked loose. If the water pump has been replaced these bolts will have been removed and replaced.
The large pulley has it's own shaft and bearing, have a look here at item #12, the bearing may be worn.

Entire assembly =

There is just the bearing on UK site for like £18 + £9 shipping (in UK, would be a bit more to you).

Hello, moron! Nice to see your dumb posts here. My X was gone couple weeks ago, I didn't start repairing my XK yet. Did you pay for fuel tank removal $800 yet? Be nice, maybe I'll teach you how to remove fuel tanks. Did you graduate high school? Trying to understand if you have high enough IQ for that. No, probably not.

what is RL?
Today I finished differential rebuild for my Dodge Durango, is it considered more complicated job than fuel tank removal?
