iownme - thanks for that, do I need to drive the car after each drain/fill? Or just switch it on and then shift the gears in place?

Ive read somewhere in this forum that it took long time, if I can remember it was around 4 hrs reported for replacing the ATF if I am not mistaken. Thats how I got the impression on this.

I will also be searching for bleeding the brakes procedure, as the previous owner did not at all change it in my opinion.

Thanks.

Thanks Dell. Could you please advise how many quartz/liter you've used to do this? Also, it seems like the last drain, the 5th, was not that necessary?

3 times is what many here do.

3 U.S quarts at a time (only 3 qts will drain from the drain hole

its good to drive a few miles inbetween or you can just idle the car makimg sure to move the gear shifter into each gear for a few seconds approx 3 times.

the fill hole is very small ...the smallest funnel i could find barely fitted....its maybe 7mm-ish...i had to file down the outside of the funnel.

@ Iownmw, you need to read my link above on an idea another member gave me for that far away tiny fill hole. It worked great.

@mtypex, I bought 5 gallons just to be safe as this was my first time, and from the results the car's first time, too. The 4th drain and 5th fill was probably a little overkill but, using the "14 second" method, I wanted as much old fluid out as possible. Please follow the instructions in my link, just opening the drain, then putting back in 3 qts as just suggested is not the recommended procedure in this forum. As demonstrated on my drain, you're SUPPOSED to get 3 1/2 quarts on the drain. I did initially but not on all. That's why you drain (I used $1 cheap turkey aluminium roasting pans) capture, measure and replace.

nobody suggested removing 3 qts.

3 qts is what will come out of a correctly filled transmission.....some say 3.5.

one does this process 3 times, removing 9 qts in total and refilling each time with 3 qts totaling 9 qts

or 11.5 in total if ur trans gives you 3.5 when draining.

its a good idea to measure how much comes out as thats a good indicator whether it was correctly filled to start with

5 gallons = 20 qts .....yep...thats overkill..lol

did you get the fuel pump in yet?
