I have an 02 x type sport automatic. after second gear it goes into neutral wont go into third brought it to a mechanic and they said the transmission fluid was low so they towed to a jaguar dealrship to have it filled when the car came back it was still doing the same problem and they said that i needed a new transmission!!! the check engine light is on.

 

sounds like your trani goes into limp home mode.. as soon as in 2nd it sees a problem.. post the codes... and codes for incorrect gear ratio .. then you do need a trani..
