Good to see another purchasing an X-type as a winter beater. AWD with DSC, they work great as winter drivers.
I've been working on finding suspension components from other cars that might be swapped onto the X-types. I'll put some of my finding together, but so far, other than the posted interchangeable parts, I haven't found any other parts that are a direct swap.

I just injected the door insides with KBS cavity wax till it dripped out. I broke two door card clips. Then I found out you can use the door bottom door drain holes and squirt up.
I couldn't get the plastic sill protectors off. The plastic screws seem on there good. My metal sills are immaculate. I must do something this week!
Some have said that the adjustable Volvo upper rear arms are be used- which got me thinking about the lower arms.
Ive measured the X type lower arms (the spring platforms) and I'll go and look at Volvo ones.
The type rear LCAs hook the anti roll bars too, I hope the Volvo ones do too
I haven't had time to take some pics and put together anything detailed regarding suspensions similar to the X-type. But based on observations I've been making is that I think a bunch of cars under the Ford "influence" started off using the same 3-D suspension geometry models, then modified a set of baseline parts to specifically fit onto the version of car being designed. (Ford CD132 Platform) Jaguar X-type, Mondeo, Volvo S40/S60, Mazda to name a few.
When I measure other brand parts I have gathered over time that I think might work on the X-type, some feature of the part is different, but the basic geometries are the same. I could get the part to fit if I modified one specific mounting connector on the X-type. But the cost of the other car's replacement part is about the same as the X-type so why bother.
The attached image will show the general problems.
This is the one front lower aluminum Control arm "Honda Odyssey" that I am captivated with at the moment. Visually, it might fit, but who knows unless you found a set to measure. I don't want to spend the money to purchase one. Perhaps if I find one for a few bucks I might get one to measure.

Why all this effort? Is the correct part no longer available?

Like the Count, I too am looking for aluminum control arms / parts. My X-types are for winter driving. One year after replacing the painted steel suspension parts with aftermarket parts, they are already showing massive signs of rusting due to salt and Mag-chloride exposure. Aluminum parts are lighter and they appear to handle the salts and mag-chloride a bit better. (At least on my other cars used in the winter.)

That makes sense. Unfortunately, mine was rusting away in the sills due to damage from improper lifting at some point in its life.
