i apologies about the 7 inch units ...i see the the frustration , when you spend hard earned money and it doesn't work as intended , that's why we are here to help, i did a long stretch of helping Lexus owners with there issues and got them resolved as you can see in my Lexus videos ,it takes time to figure out ,i don't have everyone's car but i have access to all the Data for Lexus and Jaguar so first on my list is XK ,XJL, early XF. SO MY WORK IS CUT OUT FOR ME , right now im working on a L EXUS Rx350 got it all figured
my 10 inch unit runs flawlessly its a dream to drive in it now.

7" inch aren't a total crap in fact they share the same canbus as your Tesla.
But there are things that both units lack.Regarding you buying in UK, Angola, USA, Madagascar, Germany won't make a difference they are all made in China, period, i can bet you my life on that.
You have been in contact with the engineers on WeChat right, WeChat is a Chinese government app, a German manufacturer would never ever use Wechat.
I Know this, cause i import electronic equipment from China for a living, i have over 15 years, i have the certificate of origin so i can tell you with proof that all these radios are Chinese made, just like everything else now a day.
HUANGYING ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY
Pay attention to the interface all their radios have... I spoke with the engineer on WeChat, but for some reason he blocked me... Believe me I know how to deal with Chinese, they know about these bugs they act like they don't, give you stupid replies, you have to be very aggressive with them, for now the best thing we can do is expose this, open PayPal claims, so it's all over the internet, that's the only way they will fix it.
Dennis simple question.
Do you have heated steering button?
Do you have warning messages, that are important like, 3 min switch off to save Battery, or what triggered the alarm?
I know you don't...
Sean, is probably right you can't get 100% functionality.
But there's another unit, that allows you to go back to your OEM, system this is what will solve everything.
I really mean no offense but just don't claim it works perfectly because I know it doesn't, and it's not helping putting pressure on the manufacturers to fix the issues. Unfortunately now it's better to make videos of the problems, and not about what works.
We are supposed to expose stuff here to find solutions, not hide them.
I'll put back the radio and make a video, with everything that's wrong, so people are not misguided.
Please accept my apology, i really mean no offense but i feel this thread is going the wrong way.
Like I said before I do have a heated steering wheel button but it's in the car info menu, and it works well ,and like I said before I'm going to make one so it's on the front screen ,
I don't get it my unit work's well, I don't have any warning lights, or chinese characters,
but if you're having problems I'll be on the bandwagon with you guys I'll make another video and show every function and you will see it working or not I also have The sleep function
I've been driving in my car for several weeks now with no problem
but if you want me to reach out to them with your issues I will
like I said the only thing I don't have is the button on the front screen it's in the car info ,and I can live with that
just like when I purchased my Xf 2 weeks later my thermostat went 👎bad.
getting this unit I had a feeling with aftermarket market kits and units they are not going to be 100% perfect.
but spending alot of money for these unit are unexceptable.
so I'm on board with you guys to get these fixed
also like I said before I no they are made in China and they are distributing these units all over the internet
when you're messing with canbus and wiring we are all at risk,
that's why we expose crap to save members headaches .
my unit is not giving me any
headaches
And when I said crap I was going by your very own words
please make a video of your issues and I'll pass it to them pressure them to fix them people don't have money to waste

I believe you misunderstood me, the warning messages I'm referring to are not permanent or because of any fault, maybe you never got them.
With your OEM system if you are using the infotainment without running the car and the battery starts going low, a message pops up saying that your it will shut down within 3 min, to save Battery.
These are gone in both the Tesla and the 7".
I consider them extremely important, they have saved me many times from beeing stranded.
When I had the 7" in, lucky in my garage, while messing around testing stuff, all of a sudden the car stated showing all kinds of errors Dsc, did, abs, then it just went off, and i couldn't even lock it, it went dead. Thats because it went pass the juice needed by the battery to start modules. That's when the OEM battery warning message was needed, all this would have been avoided.
Give it a try sit in your car without running and use your radio for a while, without a warning you'll get all kind of errors and a flat battery.

Ah I see. Well you and Dennis should indeed check for a solution because an OEM on screen message would be great and also to be able to cancel it using the touch screen. For this particular problem, what I did in my XK is add Torque Pro. I set a low limit warning threshold on the battery @ 12.2 volts. When I've been doing the same work as you (car on but not running), I get a verbal warning from torque pro and the message pops up on my screen. I also use it for coolant temp max threshold.
I look into the the battery going flat, issue,it's clear if you dont run your engine while messing with your screen it doest warn you ,ill test that scenario out with my 2015

Sean, how did you get the obd2 to connect with the head unit? I've not yet found a way to connect via Bluetooth 😬
Go to BT and select the page that shows your phone. Hit the magnifying glass and it will search for BT connections. Once it finds the OBDII select the link button and you're done. Then in Torque (if you use Torque) select connection type, select BT, then select choose you BT device. Both your phone and the OBD should be visible. Select the OBD obviously.
If that doesn't help, reply and I'll take some pics.
With my unit it came with the obd2 to plug in
tip make sure if you get one it does not drain your car battery, there are some good ones out that switch off when you leave the car

I've got the icar2 wich works great with my phone just won't connect to the unit 🙄
Just will not connect🙄
Pin is set to 1234 tried Bluetooth pair App and although it finds the mac address shows up as no name, I can pair but it still won't connect 😔
Dennis, as you may know, the Torque Pro app is very configurable. Go to an empty spot, press and hold on the background, then select add new gauge. You can configure the size, range, type, etc. A very nice app.
With the lack of "idiot gauges" on this car, I wanted to see if there was a way to have a page set up to constantly display things like oil and coolant temp, oil pressure, etc. That way, during times of "spirited" driving, hopefully I can sense something amiss before all heck breaks loose with the engine. Thanks for doing all the homework for me. ;-)
I would prefer connecting to the OBD2 reader via BT. There should be a way to add a BT module to the "tablet" via USB port. With the product you purchased, is there an available port? If so, even if used for something else, you could add a splitter to connect the BT module.
