BT is already built into the unit. You just need a dongle. I agree Torque Pro is very configurable and BT is my preferred connection too YamahaRick. I have no issues and I "auto launch" the app to track the two primary areas of concern on the XK, which are battery voltage and coolant temp. Torque Pro will restart on the last page you used as well and I'm guessing you know that though. You can also set TP to remind you to remove the dongle when you shut down if you want. I do it out of habit when I pull the car in for the night.

The OBDII port isn't needed for the install of the head unit so you can use wifi or BT dongle. Clearly Paul is having issues but I have put both the Tesla style 12 inch and the 7 inch XF unit in my XK without issue.

There's a 12" model as well? For the later models like Dennis's car? I am targeting the purchase of a 2013-15 MY XFR. Can you post a link to said product? TY.

Apologies, I was referring to the XK version. I use the XK harness on the smaller 7 inch model built for the XF. The 10 inch would not fit in the XK and the 12 inch won't fit in the XF.

I suggest you don't buy any of these units yet. They have critical OEM functions bugs that aren't beeing reported on this thread.

Do you think it's possible to actually get the OEM software running on the android unit? This would no doubt solve quite a few issues, such as adjusting the time and language. Not sure about fault messages. But any improvement is better than none 👍.
The new canbus decoder came and as if new it, they sent the wrong one 🙄 sent me one for a range rover 😏 however the connection plug is smaller so doesn't fit.
And we wait again....

its not hard at all I've done it on my x-type , that's why i have been testing it for you guys and seeing what options we have, and trust me ,JAGUARS technology is very basic and old so its very easy for me to figure out. The biggest thing is, these aftermarket units dont come with everthing ! the android unit i had in before let me go back and forth with the oem ui , but very basic ,and if thats what you like you should get the unique auto developement unit .but if you like these aftermarket units ill be able to make it switch over

Default Kilometer to Miles

My Tesla style head unit is set to Kilometers, here in the UK we use Miles I cannot find a setting to switch from Kilometers to Miles anybody know if there is a setting for this please,I am talking to China about it but they are not being to helpful as yet.
My other problem with the Hazared switch and AC fan speed control not working correctly was resolved by replacing the pc board, new one sent from China

look on all you apps for one one called "car info". Once you go into it, you will see several options - I think miles/kilometers is near the bottom.

Not without introducing another home made computer, something like Arduino or Raspberry Pi. I know what you're asking for and they make those devices for newer models but not yours (or my XK). Not a big enough market for them apparently, which is strange because the older model owners want the newer tech.

With all due respect to Dennis, the last "final review" video, he discounted most of the complaints as they didn't bother him personally. That's OK for a demo video where you call out the bugs, but not helpful here. So be it, he doesn't owe any of us anything.

The videos themselves have mostly focused on Android tablet functionality, but the last one review was valuable as he noted the known defects in Jaguar. Again, his videos are fine for a You Tube audience

I think you have to ask your self what specific new tech do you want that you don't have and go from there. There are other options, though they are few.

The challenges to overcome as I understand it as follows;
1)
Android 10 Custom ROM - the Operating system is obviously custom and is locked. You have to root the system (give yourself admin privileges to access the whole system). Then you have to make a back up copy of the OS but with Android 10, easier said than done as the process is circular. You may very well destroy the OS using a boot loader on Android 10 and you need to use it (I think)to make a back up - so long answer longer, you need the supplier to give you a copy of the custom ROM or find an Android expert/white hat to do this for you.

2)
Run a can bus sniffer to view the code inside the aftermarket OS and also see what the decoder is doing - assuming it's Java, hire an expert to re-code. For me, I would add code that allows for the celsius to Fahrenheit, and I would fix a small bug which, the A/C button, although it works fine, doesn't light up.

3)
Re-install the OS and test.

Thanks Sean
I had found that setting but unfortunately on that panel only thing working is the language soft button.
China is working on the problem and are suggesting a software upgrade this unit has been a pain in the but from day one I should have sent it back really I may still do that.
Also when it's a bright sunny day it's very difficult to see the screen

That is the problem. All of the options have a few bugs, or things we wish were done differently. For example, in my XJL, I have a unit that retains all the OEM functions. This is possible, because you have to remove two circuit boards out of the OEM head unit, and install them into the Android head unit. On the UI home screen, their is a button that looks like a car, that takes you to the OEM home screen. Looks and operates exactly like the OEM home screen. Can access valet mode, all of the climate control functions, Navigation, center console Ipod and USB connection. The problem, is that when you are in the Android Screen, you can adjust the volume, but you can't see what you adjusted it to. You can adjust the climate control, but you can't see the temperature, fan speed, etc. With this Tesla style, you can see all of your climate control functions, as well as whenever you change the volume. However, without an OEM screen, I am assuming I will lose the center console usb and Ipod, and the valet function. Despite the cost of all of these units, it doesn't appear there is a "perfect" solution. Will have to give up something for the newer tech/functions.

I'm working on something that will be as close to perfect as possible, you will only have to give up the knobs and physical buttons, which are all in the AC menu, so you will still retain the functions.
