Default 2015 XF - Blown Amp advice

Hi all,

I just bought a 2015 Jaguar XF with only 21k miles on it. As I was driving it back from the dealer, I somehow managed to blow the amp. I was adjusting the surround sound settings and all of a sudden I heard a crackle of the speakers and then....nothing. Now, the audio/video is grayed out, I have no navigation, CD or radio. Really no audio whatsoever. I'm told the amp is blown and that I need a new amp from Jaguar which costs $2,000 plus installation.

Can I put a used amp from Ebay into this vehicle? Do I have any other options?

This is obviously extremely frustrating for a car that's only 6 years old and has 21k miles.

Thank you in advance.

Don't sound like amp to me, I would be looking under the passenger seat for water damage to the modules!

Thank you for sending, but I believe mine is a different issue. My screen is operational, except for the audio/video button. I took it to a Foreign Car specialist mechanic in my city and they determined that the amp was blown. So I'm looking for advice on how to proceed without spending $2,500.

Find an amp from a breaker car. Lots of reasons these cars get written off in accidents. But I've not seen amp issues on here before

Make sure you get the right one. Various types, pre and post facelift, base and upgraded etc.

But have someone look into why it blew as you could put in a new one and blow it again...

+1 on Britcars' advice.

Did the shop read out codes, or why are they sure its the amp? Did you check all fuses and try to replace the fuse to see if it stays on or just gets blown again?
If you are 100% sure it is really the amp and not something else that is tearing down the most network, get the amps part number. The amp is located on the upper left side of the trunk behind the carpet. Only one plastic holder to tear out where the center carpet and left carpet pieces meet, then you can pull down the carpet far enough to get access to the amp.
With the part number you can search for used replacements. Post pics if you are unsure.
Before you put in the new amp, check why the old one blew. Maybe one of the speakers has a short, or your subwoofer sits in a pool of water. Check for wet carpets under the seat, just to be sure.

Thank you. I don't see any evidence whatsoever of water damage anywhere. No wet carpets or any smells. It sounds as though you're both confident that a replacement/used amp can be installed into the vehicle without any programming issues, which is encouraging. I'll update this thread as I learn more.

Be sure and get the old module out first so you can match the part number exactly. That is critical.
