6 plugs, $1000 ...
Why yes, yes I did take my car to the dealer ...
But I have an excuse. My car had passed some of the service intervals and I realized that the work was probably going to be pretty involved. The time was up for plugs, supercharger drive belt, and full AWD/Differential service. Plus I had them replace the brake fluid "while they were there". So I went to the dealer where I bought the car, where the service took over 6 hours to complete.
Now I KNOW what you're going to say, and I agree completely. Independent shops are cheaper! Yes. I have had a local garage work on my car since I got it. But those jobs, including O2 sensors, brake jobs, alternator replacement, battery replacements (remember there are two different ones, now ...), axle replacement, air/cabin filters, purge valve, seemed to be pretty much "external" jobs.
Doing the plugs and the supercharger belt seemed very different. I mean, I'm not even really sure where the plugs "are", or how to get to them!
And seeing all that stuff on the top of the engine just clued me into thinking that I needed someone who had actual experience fooling around in that maze of equipment on top of, and in front of the engine. With all the stories about the fragile coolant pipes, etc., I really wanted someone who'd been there before, to be there now!
And so I ended up with 1000 dollar spark plugs.
I am not ashamed.
Plus with AWD service... Being an X-Type owner I know full well what can go wrong with AWD systems, and thank goodness the X-Type was still under warranty when the transfer case self-destructed. Otherwise that repair would have been multiple 1000s of dollars. Just get the right guy, in the right place, with the right parts, to do it.
The end of the story is that I got it all done, in one day, and will probably not have to do it again while I own the car.
Final price for all the work was $2130USD minus a $200 service discount.
Now ... can someone explain exactly what's involved in replacing the plugs and supercharger belt on a Jaguar 3.0 V6?
Thanks

agreed with pab if he was willing to pay someone it is what it is at that point. At least you know your spark plugs are up too Torq specs done by a professional, although creating videos on it is quite the intelligent thing to do also helps us payers understand what is going on with this type of work and gives us entertainment/content . Thanks Dennis!
At least DIY you can know what;s up
That;s a ton of $$ The supercharger belt I did in 10 minutes....
V6 plugs about 3 hrs
You can find an independent transmission shop that is ZF approved do the work for half the price of the dealer . You can find them here:https://aftermarket.zf.com/sea/en/af...ket-network/#/
Had a transmission shop that ZF recommended to me do the Sevice on trans, diff and tranfer case and for 700 included new ZF OE filer and pan

Well in less than 100 miles codes were thrown for O2 sensors on both banks. I cleared the codes, drove another 100 miles, and both codes were thrown again.
One sensor was replaced ~20K miles ago, the other is original as far as I can tell.
Is there any chance they could go out at once?
Could this be related to replacing the plugs?
Time to call my dealer ...

Be aware that the 02 sensors are covered under a 15 year Jaguar warranty in bith Canada and the US. The sensor issue is a nuisance but it will not cost you anything.

Thanks for the reminder!! I looked back through my receipts and found that I had had one replaced by my dealer 3+ years ago
Being reminded that it would not cost me anything was great.
