Default Chassis Flex?

I have a 2012 XF with 39k miles on. At slow speeds, driving over uneven pavement, I hear all sorts of squeaks (not rattles) from the passenger side B and C-pillar. At higher speeds, going over potholes, bumps, etc will also make the car feel as if it's not tightly bolted together.

Don't get me wrong, I love the car and it handles really great for such a big car, but just that it feels as if the car flexes and squeaks when it encounters uneven road surfaces. Anyone else feel the same?

Check your sunroof for gasket movement/sqeaking as it tricks you into thinking it is elsewhere …..seriously !

Agreed. My sunroof made noises and the location was tough to pinpoint.

Thanks guys, I'll check that out and see if I can get the dealer to fix it. The squeaky noise is really annoying.

question; do the XF cars use any Ford parts, like suspension ,engines ,drivetrain components, etc.

The earlier models had a known issue where they would develop hairline cracks near the sunroof, and it was quite a bit of work to fix it (I know, my '08 model had them). But in that model I always had the impression that the chassis would flex a bit going around roundabouts. I think though that it was the suspension and 19" wheels, the benefit being an absolutely beautiful ride.

My '12 model ran on 20"s and had the uprated suspension, I think. I didn't notice the flex at all and powering through the roundabouts was a snap, but the ride was not as nice.

I don't have any handling issues but my 2012 XF Supercharged suffers from squeaks and creaks at low speeds on uneven surfaces, like pulling into a driveway.

The dealer has tried lubing the door seals but nothing seems to cure this issue. it's not huge problem since it any noises are drowned out by the radio most of the time but I'd like the noise gone. Doing a bit of testing this weekend, I tried pulling into my driveway (uphill) a few times with various windows/sunroof open. The sunroof position didn't make any difference but having the windows cracked seems to have fixed the issue. I need to repeat this test a few more times to be certain but I'm leaning towards the window seals being the source of the noise. Anyone else found this to be the case?

Yes. Tons of Ford parts. The XF is just a reskinned S Type which was co-developed with Ford and their Lincoln LS.

Put all three cars on a rack and you can't tell the difference underneath. But that is a good thing because Jaguar won't ever tell you but the guys on this forum can. It's much cheaper to use the Ford parts.

If you look you will see many parts still carry the Ford markings. If it was not for Ford it's very likely Jaguar would have went under a long time ago.

This is the exact issue I have with my car. I checked and rechecked the sunroof and it was not the root cause of the squeaks and creaks. I get these noises at low speeds on uneven pavement and they are coming from the doors all around. It's as if they are loosely bolted to the car.

Having the radio on helps, but this is unacceptable for a luxury vehicle. My 2008 528i with 80k miles feels more tightly bolted compared to this car.

Its the rubber seal around the sunroof NOT the sunroof itself…..

Don't know if anyone wants try it themselves but for decades I have always lubed all door/window/moon roof/trunk seals with Sil-Glyde. It's like lubing the latches with white spray Lithium grease. Just a part of car maintenance.

Many cars have squeaks which as mentioned above are from the rubber seals sliding/sticking to the steel body. It seems to condition the seals too so they stay more pliable.

Had the same issue when I owned my XF.. Kept hearing a creaking noise at slow speeds . Especially when pulling in or leaving my driveway. I took it to the dealer and they adjust those knobs underneath the front of the hood too lever it. I did notice the hood was slightly off but kept forgetting to mention it. Anyway with the hood adjustment the flex noise completely disappeared. Oh and I also lubed all the rubber seals around the doors and sunroof as well with Silglyde.

I had the same problem with a rattling bonnet on both my XFs.
Adjusting "those knobs underneath" made no difference, other than to invoke "bonnet open" warnings once I adjusted either one a bit too far up.
But what has worked beautifully for me on both XFs is to wrap/stick a piece of Velcro around each of the U-shaped bonnet catches.
No more bonnet movement, no more rattle, and the release mechanism is much smoother and quieter.
