Dyno Run Qs
TO anyone with experience and has had their car on a dyno, any special issues to deal with and how did you do that. I am Heading to shop that has not experience on Jaguar engines (but then again who does. So here's my questions.
I have read that its a bit difficult to keep the car in gear without a kickdown. So what did you ?
Pulls in 3rd or 4th best ?
Where did you pick up tach readings? Which cable/wire. OBD?
How a bout boost? OBD or best to have a boost sensor installed? Where is best to pick up boost?
O2 from the rear or did you have a bung and sensor installed? Or did you pull the passive cat sensor?

Dynoed my 2014 XJR. The operator had not done a Jaguar before and as you know there is a driving technique and a learning curve to get the best numbers.
I wanted him to use 6th and lock it in gear with the paddle shifter's as that's the closest gear to 1.0 ratio in the 8 speed ZF. He had some problem with the car kicking down a gear or two when he floored it.
I was only suppose to get 3 pulls and he eventually did 6 because he improved with every pull and the numbers kept going up which also showed we weren't getting full power down yet.
Tail pipe sniffer and his tach lead hooked in the engine somewhere? Did NOT measure boost but that would be interesting to see. I also did not data log the runs and wish I had.
Here is my thread about it;
