Fuel filler door defect, again.
Anyone have their fuel filler door refuse to open repeatedly even after the so called factory fix has been applied?
Mine worked fine before the updated mechanism was installed and now doesn't fit properly and doesn't work properly.

My dealer mechanic says the design is not good. He adjusted the mechanism and it seems to work now, fingers crossed.
He recommended against replacing the part, suggesting the new ones are also faulty in the same way.
He also suggested that there is an anti tamper function. If more than five consecutive unsuccessful attempts are made in a row with the flap refusing to open then an ignition sequence is required to re-activate the mechanism. It seems it is electrically operated even though triggered by a push on the door itself.
Applying silicone type lube to both sides of the catch and silicone based rubber cleaner to the rubber/ plastic surround failed to improve the operation.
