Default Help Needed !!!

I just bought a 2010 XF 5.0, and it feels like the rear end of the car jerks when coming to a stop, when braking slowly. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

By the way the car only has 47,000 miles on it.

Does it seem similar to any of these symptoms?

Check the brakes are not worn down.

Brakes are in great shape, I drove it in winter mode and noticed that it is butter smooth and after reading the book it says that it takes off in second gear in winter mode and never gets to first gear. So i am assuming that it is just the way the transmission shifts from second to first when slowing down that causes the bump.

I have 2 2011 XF's and neither of them jerk when slowing in normal transmission mode.

It doesn't seem like they have found a solution for Jags that do that jerking, so maybe that's why the previous owner sold it.

If it is the same as what I had with a 2011/12 XF 5 litre, it is fuel sloshing around in the tank, and the dealer will put a foam baffle in the tank to fix it. It feels as though you have a big watermelon in the boot, and it is hitting the back seat when you stop.

It is only when it down shifts from second to first when slowing down, because as soon as you push the winter mode button (which keeps it from going into first gear) the jerk goes away. If you turn off the winter mode, allowing it to down shift into first gear, the jerk returns. So it can not be a fuel slosh issue in my case.

You MAY be right, but don't discount the possibility that the mode may make the deceleration more smooth!

Just fill up the tank to very tippy top to test. If the tank is full, it won't be sloshing around because there's no room for sloshing.
