New XFR owner - another dash issue question
Hey guys, been lurking on this forum for about a year now...bought a XF Portfolio about a year ago and sold it about 4 months ago...
Well, for the first time in my life, I 're-bought' the same car I owned before...same color, almost same color interior, but this time I got the 'R' edition....
My question is this....
I have the dash rippling issue that a lot of people have complained about...In fact, the car I bought is the one being talked about in this thread....
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cation-101413/
which btw to correct a couple of the posters.....
1. the interior is near flawless unlike what I described by poster 'DPK'... It has zero wear (even the seat cushion on my XF with 10k miles had more bubble to it just from people sitting it normally then this car has at 50k)
2. It definitely has never been 'underwater' or had no paint issues... I checked it with a paint meter for one, it has a clean carfax with one previous owner
3. It has zero driving issues
4. I have tried to find a knick or spec or some kind of flaw on the inside or the outside of the car and the only thing I could find was very minor dirt on the white trim of the floormats and the drivers seat is not perfect with the seat cushion having a little bubbling up to it (about 25% of what I have seen on all other XF's around 20k or under miles)... I'm guessing the seat didn't take much abuse because the person was prob 80lbs because when I checked the seat pre sets it was literally going to push me into the dash and the steering wheel was trying to crush my legs
I will say those Ebay pics are crappy, I will have to take some detailed high res pics of it so you can see just how ridiculously clean this thing is....
With that being said, the dash does have 2 heavy ripples.... My other XF was starting to do this at about 29k miles.... I feel like this is more of a function of time and heat then actual miles... I also feel like this a known recall from Jaguar with the amount of problem cars... Its clear they didn't use enough glue and material in their initial application of these dashes and there are enough bad ones to show it was their doing...This car has 51k miles so it is out of warranty, but I am going to fight them on it... I think it will be easy to prove that it was a known issue and that it takes more then 1k miles to develop and is a product of time not miles which this car is still in the time phase of the warranty.... (its a 2010 btw)... That is going to be my approach on the matter, and from all the reading I have done on this forum (thanks btw), I am going to first approach JaguarUSA and see what they are willing to do...If that doesn't work, I am just going to take them to court for the cost of the replacement...
I came here to pick everyone's brain and ask for help and/or suggestions with this quest of mine...
Thanks and I love the XFR's, and its nice be back in my Jag again with more power this time!!

Hello, I have the same issue with my XF with bubbling dashboard. I called JaguarUSA and got the lame excuse that it has something to do with the heat from the sun. They claim they do NOT have a bulletin(notification and/or complaints from other customers) so therefore, they are NOT willing to fix the dash. It's so frustrating because these cars are expensive and they are not old enough(XFs 1st year of prod was 2009) to have this issue. Call 1800 452 4827 and complain again. They made note of my complaint in which I have a case # for, but they are still not willing to pay for repair. I will take them to court as well. Best wishes!
This may not be super cheap, but go talk to and upholstery shop (automotive) and see if they and peel and reglue the cover back on. Should just be the adhesive releasing. I saw it on a bentley i was working years ago. cost the guy 125 bucks to fix. worth it if you ask me
