I have jaguar xf 2012. I have done wrong jump starting when the battery was dead. Now I changed the battery but the car wouldn't start.
First it was showing steering column lock which we have replaced but same problem the car wouldn't start.
Tried reprogramming and so on.. But still..
Checked the power to the BCM but it was coming.. Checked the mega fuses and all other fuses.. All are okay.
The only part of the car that is working is lights and ac blower and dashboard.
Electrician think the reverse current caused damage to BCM and recommends replacing them.
Think you'll probably have to expand on what you mean by this.
But honestly, beyond checking fuses I think you'll struggle to get much more advice on this - depending on what the "wrong jump starting" was, you could have fried one or more modules - it's going to be nearly impossible for people to diagnose this remotely.

You are right.. It's difficult to diagnose remotely.. Only seeing if you guys can pinpoint what is likely to be effected by wrong jump starting (ie connecting the positive with the negative from another batter when battery was dead).
The most obvious part to check was the fuses.. Which were okay somehow.
Electrician suspect the BCM to become faulty and recommend to replace both the front and rear..

On an old simple car it might be just a fuse. On these euro luxury imports, it may be the kiss of death. If a decent tech investigated and says those parts need to be replaced, then that's as good a guess as any would have here. Combined with the programming expertise required to attempt replacements, nobody would be surprised if it cost more than the car is worth and might not even be guaranteed to fix the problem.

Thanks,,
Let's hope for the best.. I may go ahead with the electrian advise to try a used bcm and take it from there
Where did you get the BCM programmed from? I am in a similar situation, after replacing the BCM everything is working except VIN mismatch and car not cranking.
Any help on how to change the VIN on a used BCM.. i am in exact same situation as you...have a friend who has a cardaq plus 2..he is willing to help but not sure how to do it on jaguars...
