Default Playing you tube music on 2010 xfr

Hi, Im in need of some advice. I currently have an andriod phone that i connect to my car via a 3.5m headphone jack via the aux setting. This lets me play my play lists on you tube.

I need to update my phone and no new handsets have a headphone jack. So how do i play you tube? Not the music on my phone i need the out put of the video.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look at the Bovee Tune2Air if you have the iPod dock connector socket in the center console. It's a bit more expensive but it gives you better integration with the XF head unit. Eg the song track names from Spotify will come up on the car infotainment system, you can skip forwards or backwards using the steering wheel controls or the buttons under the screen etc.

That sounds great but only works with apple. I have seen an andriod version but only works on later cars. Mines a 2010 but does have a usb and apple connector in the centre console.

Get an iPhone, even a cheap, old, used model will do, and then connect it via the iPod connector. A cable connector will give much better audio quality than a Bovee device over Bluetooth. You don’t need to use the iPhone as your phone, you could just use it to play music.

I got a Bovee for my 2010 with my android phone. It mostly works, but it really likes to hold onto that bluetooth connection even with the car off. I had to unplug it so much that one day i never remembered to plug it back in and just kinda stopped using it. here is the one i bought.

Thanks for commenting. So does the Bovee let you visualise your phone on the car display? I mainly want to play you tube on the stereo.

If you have an Apple iOS device then it does bring up the song name on the car display. At least on Spotify / Pandora (I've not tried YouTube). And the car controls for skip ahead / back a track etc work.

If you have an android device I'm not sure there is as much integration of controls but you can still Bluetooth stream the music

you can bluetooth https://music.youtube.com/ , in my case i subscribed to it for no ads. a bit cheaper than subscribing to youtube itself, but access to all the music found on youtube along with playlists. IMO the best music app out there.
