Default Question about locking the car.

I turned on the alarm going off when the passenger door opens, but it seems like anyone can open the passenger door now. I want the car to be set so that it stays locked unless i open it with the key near it like the two back doors. Is it just as simple as turning off the alarm or is there another way I have to do it?

Can't remember the function exactly, but on the security menu should be a single-point entry, or one-point entry option, this will mean that you can open the driver's door while the rest remain locked, is that what your after?

yes. that's what I'm trying to do. I took the car to the car wash and they tried to open my door for me and it stayed locked but then someone on the other side just opened the passenger door, then the driver's door just unlocked automatically which pissed me off because i was thinking, what if someone was trying to jack me, the passenger door will just open every time?

Also I have another question, I know I can globally open the car (unlock all doors and have all windows and sunroof open) but why can't I globally lock it (have everything roll up and lock the doors)?

Global close (all windows and sunroof close simultaneously and all doors lock) is performed if you press and hold any of the four door handle buttons with the key within a foot or two. Be careful to hold the button until the sunroof is fully closed. On earlier models this could be also done from the remote, but safety and liability issues forced deletion of this feature.

As I understand it you locked the car and set the alarm. Then somebody opened the supposedly locked door. Did the alarm go off? If so you have an issue with the door lock. My local independent has changed a lot of jaguar locks over the years on various models from about 2003 onwards.

Yeah I read that's how it's supposed to work but it won't do it. I try and turn it on through the vehicle settings, and it automatically turns it back off pretty much a second after i take my finger off the screen.

That time no, since I was still in the car and the car was on, but other instances, someone can open the passenger door and yes the alarm does go off and it's only that door. every other door will lock. I think I will take it to the dealership this week.
