Shopping for an XF/XFR
Greetings, I'm surfing over from the X-Type list
I currently own an '05 3L X-Type auto, and am thinking about upgrades... ;-)
I really wanted an '08 S-Type 4.2 or R but they are really hard to find, so I'm resetting my sights on an '09 XF/XFR which are much more available and can be had with the remainders of the 6year factory warranty.
So, gotta question for you XF owners: were there any first-year problems with XFs and is there any significant reason to avoid them in favor of an '10 model?
It seems that a lot of an XF was "inherited" from the S-Type and the S-Type was pretty bullet proof. Are first year XFs known for any real problems?
Thanks much

Here is one 4.2 MY08 in Madison, NJ. http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...ema&listType=1
At that market price, add another $8000 and go for an XF.
If you have any questions regarding a specific one you looking at etc, just post your concerns.

Ya, saw that one. It was what really started me thinking about "upgrading".
Decided it was just too far away. My dealer had an STR that really lit my fire. 37k miles, $22k... =:-0
They took it on trade and I saw/test-drove it right after it arrived, LOVED it!!!!! Problem was, when the put it on the lift to look it over/prepare it for sale they found that it had run over something and had done ~$7k worth of damage. I didn't notice anything beyond what felt like a wheel slightly out of balance. But they immediately sent it to auction. I wonder if they found the oil pan dented and leaking or possibly a crack in the transmission case.
