Default Tips to make XK wheels fit on XF

So I recently bought a 2015 Jaguar XF X250.

Turns out when I bought it, the previous owner had the dealership put his wheels from his previous Jaguar XK onto the car and I didn't realize. The rear wheels are too large. 90% of the time it's fine, but if I go over a hard bump or make a sharp turn, the sidewall of the rear tires makes contact with the fender and rubs, damaging the tire. It is only a few millimeters out, but it's enough.

The wheels I have on the back are 275/35/ZR19
Meanwhile the OEM size of rear wheel for Jaguar XF is 245/40R19 although apparently 285/30R20 is also supposed to fit.

So I guess the question is - is there anything I can do to make these rear wheels work on my car? Can the suspension or wheels be adjusted?

Or do I just have to bit the bullet and get different wheels?

Welcome to the XF! Couple of thoughts

Firstly take off one of the wheels and check they don't have a spacer to push them further out. If they do then take out the spacer and problem solved. Guessing that's unlikely but someone else had that recently!

the dimensions you shared are for the tyres, not for the wheels. It sounds pedantic but it's an important distinction. You will need to find the specs for the wheels too. Presumably they are 19inch as you have 19inch tyres on them! But you need to find the width of the metal wheel itself (Eg 8 or 9 inches) and the offset (how far the mounting face is off the center. Usually engraved inside the wheel with ETxx where xx is the number of millimeters

Post up those dimensions and we can advise. It may be that if they take the right tyres you might be able to go back to the 245/40R19 that should be on the car. But I'm guessing your wheel might be wider and needs a wider tyre too. (275 vs 245 is width of tyre)

If you can't put a narrower tyre on it then unfortunately the wheel isn't suitable as too wide / offset too far out. (True that the V8 SC and XFR use 285 on the rear but the offset is totally different so the wheel sits much further into the wheel arch)
If that's the case you should take it back to the dealer who has sold you a car that's not roadworthy.

XK rear wheels have a much smaller offset than XF wheels, something like ET +25 vs ET +49 (so 24 mm more "stick out").
24 mm (a bit less than an inch) is usually OK on an XF, but combined with wider tyres it can be a problem.

you may be able to roll the fenders a bit for added clearance. i needed "just a bit" and did so successfully. my only problem was on large dips in the roads at speed on on squat when launching hard

Thanks BritCars! So you are right... the XK rims that I have say "9.5Jx19CHx27mm", and the XF rims are 8.5 and 49mm, so I think OxZFR is right it's basically sticking out by 22mm. No spacers or anything unfortunately, it's just bare metal in there.

I'd consider rolling the fenders a bit but I'm super worried about damaging the car... especially reading people say it can cause the paint to chip / break and require repainting. It sounds like a can of worms... is that the kind of thing you can take to some kind of specialty body shop to do for you?

i did mine with a $70 roller from amazon or ebay. mounts on wheel hub studs. weird contraption.. use a heat gun or hair dryer to keep fender nice and toasty and do the job slowly. I'm sure there is potential for damaging something, but i didn't experience that. i'd never done it previously so i was no expert...

Yes - exactly. It has a smaller offset (22mm). And the wheel is an inch wider so half of that sticks out too - ie 35mm more 'poke' in total

Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do. They aren't really suitable wheels unless you get into rolling the arches which I personally wouldn't do.

I have an XF 2013 2.2 and just put a set of Staggered F Type wheels on the front were 19x 8.5 with 245/40 x 19 tyres and the offset was 49 the rears are 19x9.5 with 275/35 x19 tyres and the wheels are a 27 offset they do stick out slightly on the rea but no way in such a way that they will rub unless I had worn shocks, which I don't. I could and may use a smaller tyre that will fix the wider tyre, but to be honest, the top of the guards on the rears are in line with the tyres, See the photos below. and cheers.
