Default Unsure which DAB antenna I need

Hi All

I plan to add DAB+ to my 2013 XF. Thanks to the great articles https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...dition-183219/ and https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ystems-162263/ I already know what DAB+ module I need and where to get most cables. I’m however uncertain about the antenna. My Car has no DAB preinstall and I'm familiar with SDD.

From what I understand I have two options: the rear window antenna, or the shark fin. Now there’s a lot of variants for both options in Ecat, and none mentions the band frequency.

In Switzerland we appear to have band III only, and for the ease of install I’d prefer the rear window, so that would be the amp C2Z1469 which should connect to the two unused wires on the glass. If that does not work, can the electronics of the shark fin be exchanged (to avoid a painting), and do I need a separate antenna amp for the shark fin? Part number I found is C2D26865LML.

I just want to be sure that FM and navigation and TMC still works.

Many thanks,

Chris (busy replacing the coolant Y-tube…)

The window has Band-III, the roof sharkfin has L-Band. I tried to use one of the factory L-Band sharkfins for Band-III reception and it was terrible...

You need CX23-18C847-CA for the rear window which is a combined FM & DAB, with a 2nd fakra connector for the DAB.

As you have a 2013, there is no pre-wiring in the car for DAB, which makes it a pain to retrofit.

For these cars I had a bracket made to put the DAB module on top of the audio amplifier in the boot, because the MOST fibre connection under the left front seat is missing if it wasn't built with DAB or SDARS. At least in the boot you can get the MOST & power connections easily, and the DAB antenna cable to the rear window is simple. Costs more but saves a heap of time & effort.

@Cambo thanks, this is excellent information! Yes, I planned to put the DAB module on top of the amp, seems much easier.
Thanks,
Chris

Thanks to all the great help here, specifically from @Cambo I now have a fully operational DAB+ system in my car!

Cheers
