Personally..I wouldn't do anything different than what you have been doing for the past 90K miles..Stay with the OM recommendation and service routine. Like the old saying; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

ALWAYS use oil recommended by Jaguar.

The 4.2 uses 5W 30. The 5.0 uses 0W 20.

Change interval is 10,000 miles or one year for the 4.2 and 15,000 miles or one year for the 5.0.

No reason to change the viscosity.

What could have been true many years ago, it's any more. Always use Jaguar recommended oil.

Once again the self proclaimed wizard of the North is ill advised...

For a 5.0L the maximum oil change interval is to change the oil and filter every year or 15,000 miles which ever comes first..

If you drive your car just for the weekends and special outings, then the yearly change will more than likely come first with less than 15,000 miles on the oil..

Actually just a conversion error. Canada is metric and the change interval is 24,000 km which is approximately 15,000 miles. Next time I'll just have to use a calculator.

Or I could just wait for the pedants to post.

I am flattered those who avow they will never read any of my posts pay such close attention to the accuracy of same.

Maybe I should deliberately post erroneous info and see what happens.

I for one am really tired of barely literate yokels constantly attacking out of jealousy the best source of information we have on this forum. No, Jagular does not know everything, and perhaps not as much as he thinks he knows, but he knows more by far than his detractors and is an excellent source of information about these cars. Personal attacks and flames are completely out of place here anyway, so let's just keep the conversation on the cars or hold our "tongues." Please.

Totally agree Swimref, a simple typo is no reason to launch am attack on another member.
I think I recall making one myself once.

I too would like the forum to stay away from negativity. This is a place for like minded people to come together and share info. Even when someone is not entirely accurate, the resulting discussion teaches me more on the subject.

The forum is for the free discussion and exchange of information and opinions, if you feel someone is wrong feel free to discuss and post what you believe to be correct.

Personal attacks on other members are not allowed under the forum rules and should not be necessary to make a point or express an opinion.

Why oh why are we here again?

Swimref hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned.

Jagular may / may not have upset a few in the past I don't know, I haven't read all of his 2059 posts since he became a member here in 2008, a long time ago.

I don't really see anything that points to this witch hunt and it needs to stop.

As Norri has stated, "The forum is for the free discussion and exchange of information and opinions, if you feel someone is wrong feel free to discuss and post what you believe to be correct.

Personal attacks on other members are not allowed under the forum rules and should not be necessary to make a point or express an opinion"

As much as it may be a last resort, there may be a few infractions or bans in the near future.

Please just try to get along as best you can, we're all adults after all, aren't we?

As for typos?
We all make them unfrotunatelky......

Doesn't seem that way as my post was removed.

Norri, do you happen to know how many times negative remarks were made about "Americans" in the posts by the special someone? Quite a few many and i never saw his remarks being removed as they were absolute attacks and very disrespectful.

You have the power of attorney of this board and should you feel the need to remove/ban my account, feel free to do so.
