Default Where do you put your phone/pda?

I like it always at the ready but hate having one of the compartments open all the time. I also hate cluttering a beautiful interior with aftermarket clamps and mounts etc. I have found that the perfect place for my Blackberry 9900 is sideways in the opening where your hand goes to open the center console. It sticks out about half width so that I can see the notification light but it gets it out of the way.

The back is shiny and it was sliding around so I added a strip of grippy black rubber on the trim near the opening...problem solved, it sticks even under hard braking and cornering.

Why not keep it in your pocket and pair and dock it using the Bluetooth in your car? Then you use the car stereo system as a hands free phone, as designed.

its paired of course and used that way but I use it for many other things so having it in a pocket is not an option....and certainly when charging it has to be out.

my phone has a case that has slight rubbery grip and usually stays in my pocket since I use BT but if not I rest it on the wood area just in front of the center console that is to the left of cupholders.

And when I watch my Fast Money video podcasts it sits horizontally facing me with back of phone resting against LCD NAV screen

If it doesn't move and it should - WD-40

If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct Tape

Silicone for stuff that shouldn't move. Use duct tape if you are unsure if it should move or not..

The balance of the minimalist toolkit is a screwdriver for screwing things up, a pair of pliers for unscrewing and a hammer for anything else. Technically, one should use a BFH as a smaller hammer might not be enough and you can always choke up on the handle of a BFH if delicacy is required.

Jaguar really could have put a little more thought into usable storage. I mean, a third front cupholder really does me no good but a right-sized cubby hole would be nice. Change tray anyone?

My 10 SC has a change tray rather than another cup holder but you would have to leave it open to hold a phone. Works well but looks like crap.

I believe you have a insert so there is still a big cup holder under the change tray/smoker tray in that compartment. I think you can get it in the earlier cars as well.

Since we're talking about storage places, does anybody have any idea what Jag thought the back seat passengers were going to do with that little indent underneath the rear air outlet in the console? WTH is that for, anyway??? Enquiring minds want to know.

I don't know about the 10s and newer but the asht tray in place of the third cupholder isn't ideal as a cubby either.

How about a removable non-slip rubber like pad that you rest on top of your dash to hold your phone?
