Default XFR vs. XF Supercharged Exhaust Differences

Just wondering if there are any differences in the XFR and XF Supercharged exhausts? Looking at purchasing an exhaust for my XFR and didn't know if my friend's XF Supercharged would benefit from my exhaust?

...Isn't the 2011 XFR a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8?

Shouldn't make a bit of difference...unless yours is the 4.2L, then it might

I know it's none of my business..But Jaguar got it right when they designed the exhaust systems for these cars..perfectly tuned..So why mess with perfection?..Just saying

I like how the exhaust sounds, but with the windows up, I can't hear enough of what everyone around me gets to enjoy. I don't want it really loud or raspy, just more than I hear now. Used to have a 97 SS Camaro with an SLP exhaust and I could always hear the engine well, but it never droned on the freeway or was obnoxious when I wasn't really on the gas.

And since the XFR is a blend of sophistication and hooligan, I want to be able to tap into the hooligan side a bit more. Debating on an exhaust from Mina or I might even take BigCat's suggestion to get a Varex muffler and replace the center resonator so I can change it to suit my taste.

That's a good question. I'm also interested in knowing the engine/transmission difference between the 2012 MY Supercharged and XFR if anyone has the definitive information.

if you'll want nice and loud (like really loud!) on demand, why not consider a dual cutout?
this way if you want raw power+sound, just click a button and its open!

The rear section that goes around the exhaust is different on the XFR vs XF SC. Mina lists them separately on their website. You could call and ask them to get a definitive answer.

After 2010 there are no mechanical differences between the XFR and the XF SC. It's the body kit, interior changes, and a tune that make the XFR different. You can get a tune for the XF SC to make it just as fast as the XFR.

Agreed, the engine and exhaust of a 10 SC is the same as the XFR

I don't want really loud though. Just want some additional presence. Just more of what is already there, but a little more throaty at idle, etc. Don't want it to sound like a typical tuner car that you can hear from a mile away at 30 mph. Hopefully will hear another forum member's XFR tomorrow, which will make the decision much easier.

I was fortunate enough to have another forum member close enough to me, and who was willing to take some time out of his day for me, to hear his Mina exhaust. While it did sound good, it did not fit the way I typically use the car (GF and other couples often travel with me in it so it was a bit too loud). Thanks again to AJMartin for saving me some cash. I think I'm going to try the center resonator swap for an unresonated X-pipe and see how that works. Will hopefully put me somewhere between stock and the Mina which would make me happy.

Does the 5.0 SC also have the same diff as the XFR?

I'm coming from the BMW world, looking at a 09 SC, but if thats the case, I might up my budget for a 2010 SC.

I don't believe the 09 SC has the electronic diff. It wasn't added until the 5.0L was dropped in for the 2010 SC/XFR. The 09 SC can't be beat for the cost. It's no slouch and since the 4.2L SC has been around so long you can piggy back off of all the XK, XJ, and S-type R owners that have modded there 4.2L SC. The 2012 would be worth the step up for the updated exterior/media system.

2009 SC did not have the E-Dif found in the 2010+ XFR and XF SC. 2009 SC is still wicked performer however.

2010 XFR and 2010 XF SC are same engine, with possibly a different tune. However multiple real world tests by media publications have identical performance statistics. 2010 differences between the XFR and XF SC are upgraded brakes, altered grill with larger secondary air intakes, hood louvres (standard on 2011+ model year XF SCs though), sport seats for driver and passenger, rear diffuser, and a sort of 'ground effects' styling (I'm not sure if XF-SCs have brake coolers... XFRs do). Furthermore, a lot of the options available on the XF SC come standard on the XFR, such as rear window sunblind, split folding rear seats, uprated sound system, rear lip spoiler.

Cheers,

- Will
