Hello, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on the plastic v gate on the shifter that tells you what gear your in. Mine is cracked and some of the pieces can just come off. Thanks in advance.

 

Check Ebay. I saw a few of them on there the other day.

Not sure if you will find just the part you want - you may have to buy the whole shifter. Recyclers tend to sell cars in chunks, not each separate small piece.

You should call JagBits (888-524-2487), they might be able to get a used one for you. They have shift selector covers for some of the earlier models listed on their website.
SHIFT SELECTOR COVER (PRNDL). FITS XJS UP TO 1993 VIN 188105 WITHOUT SPEED CONTROL SWITCH (price is $25.93).

Try to get one where both lights work...I just bit the bullet and bought a new one for 2 bills..

 

Here is the part number for the illumination module ...LNC6195AC *- transmission module

 

The Gear Selector Illumination Module for the Supercharged Sedan (W5A580) is different than the one for the Normally Aspirated (ZF5HP24) and they have different part numbers from some MYs (VINs). I don't know what years are compatible but you cannot just plug any Selector Module into any XJ and hope it will work. It is a NODE on the CAN bus (listen only) so it is important to get the correct one or you can shut down the network.

At least get a Selector Module from a SC car to have a chance at it working correctly.

if yours is broken, you can take it apart with a couple screws and swap out a good face plate so you dont have to worry about compatabilty. I belive I also have one Ill sell you for $60 SHIPPED.Pm if interested

Jagman is only looking to replace the plastic transmission shift gate cover. The Ebay items and the JagBits items are just that - the plastic cover for the shift gate.
Sounds like Brutal has a good solution to your problem.
