Default depressurizing suspension help!

Hi all,

I've got to replace the upper control arms in a 2004 xj8 and don't know how to depressurize the air suspension. I'm ok with everything else, but this is the first step. I have replaced the air compressor once and know how to find that, but...

Any advice is much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Steve,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X350 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please see my reply to your identical post in Intro forum for some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Try this:

1. Remove Compressor Relay
2. Raise Vehicle
3. Loosen the Brass Air Fittings on Front Air shocks to relieve air pressure
4. Follow instructions provided by Arrnot:
https://www.arnottindustries.com/par...36_gid567.html
(Download manual)
5. Download Tech Manual here:
http://www.jagrepair.com/JaguarXJ8%2...OBDIIcodes.htm
(Follow instructions for replacing the control arm)

Steve,

In addition to the excellent info provided by reyesl, the Jaguar Service Manual (available in the download section of the HOW TO thread of this forum) instructs us to loosen a brass fitting approximately 1/4 turn until air begins to escape and wait until all the pressure has been relieved before threading the fitting out the rest of the way to remove it.

Cheers,

Don
