NESPO, sounds like you have a blown fuse that powers the instrument cluster. I would look in your owners manual for which fuse powers the instrument cluster and then replace that. Could be something that simple. Otherwise, you are most likely looking at trip to a service place to have them connect up a computer and force the instrument cluster to do a diagnostic on itself which will force it to light up all the LEDs as part of the test.

I thought about that , only thing that works is the airbag light on the side of the dash.

NESPO, check fuse F61 in he central junction box. That is the one that powers the instrument cluster.

Just to make sure that I am understanding what you are saying. You can see the radio just fine. If you turn on the dash lights, they will light up except for the screen just above the steering wheel. Correct? I am looking at the electrical diagrams and making sure that I am going after the correct problem.

Yes. You're absolutely right. Before it was no problems with dash. Media touchscreen , lights and everything else works. It's strange because like I heard that if cluster dont work car wont start. But it runs

My XJ has same problem. Black dash and airbag light on and it does not run, only start and cranks but does not run. Little background: It start with the black dash and I continued using it for a while since it was running, but then one day puff, it starts, cranks but dont run and the airbag light is on. A year ago, after a road trip to NY, it came back with an intermittent problem of AC and Nav screen going off multiple times during the day. It ultimately fixed itself after a long drive (2hr continuous road trip) which recharged the battery. Now that I got the black dash, I checked fuse and then got a new battery. Well, I changed the battery, and now I continue to have the black dash plus the airbag light on and the car does not run. Got myself a code reader (topdon) and it shows RCM module error. Nor sure if I should send the module for recoding, so I got myself a TL866 (arrives tomorrow) and I will see if I can reprogram the EEPROM on the RCM. Hope is not harness or other stuff that is fried. Does any body has the manual and wiring diagram for this model ?

Check your grounds. The CAN bus is very sensitive to bad grounds and connections.
