Default 2013 XJL will be garaged 3-1/2 weeks... battery??

I live in a condo and my 2013 XJL Portfolio will be garaged 3-1/2 weeks at some point in the upcoming fall/winter months while we are away. I mention the condo garaging because while the car itself will be secure, there won't be an opportunity to plug the car's battery into a minder. Any suggestions for what to do to avoid a dead or severely-depleted battery when we return after 24 days away?

For what it's worth. I have a 2013 and have left it parked in my garage for 20 days and it started right up when i got back from my trip and I do not use a battery minder..

I've not had any issue with my 2012 over a similar period. My only advice would be to see the battery is topped up before you leave and its double locked i.e 2 presses on the key or door.

If battery dies, double-locking will make getting in harder. It isn't hard to undo negative battery terminal, so why not just disconnect battery until you get home?

IF you disconnect the battery and close the trunk getting in will be a nightmare that you have to remove the backseat. If you leave the battery connected and it dies you use the key to open the drivers door open the hood and hookup to the terminals to open the trunk and charge the battery.

I’ve recently had a medical problem and have been unable to drive my car for 21 days. To my relief it started up straight away

My 2014 XJR sat for about six weeks (45 days) at the airport with the factory battery this year and started without any problems.
Including the start stop function which began to work after I drove 30 minutes or so.
I have read many stories about this problem so I don't know why mine is OK?

My previous 2005 S Type R never had any battery troubles and I eventually replaced the factory battery after 7 years!

My 2014 XJL was in the shop for a month putting in a new engine. No battery problems. The shop didn't say they charged the battery. Two months with a timing issue and no note of a battery but started right up.

Thanks guys. What is this double locking that you are referring to? Whenever I leave my car I just touch the door handle once, which locks the car. What happens when you double lock it?

If you tap the handle lock 2 times the horn will "chirp" and the car turns off completely. I use this method to reset my display that once in a while comes up white, and wait 30 seconds and then open the door and the display resets.

Thanks. When you say that the car turns completely off, does that include keyless entry?

It sounds like I should just make sure the battery is fully-charged before we leave, and lock it like I normally do (one touch, not two)...

it puts the car into a "deep sleep" mode which turns off accessory power and other misc things that you dont need/see. keyless entry will continue to work

Ahhhhhh. Then it sounds like for an extended away period I should double-lock the car.
