Default 2019 XJL 3.0 V6 coolant leak at 24,000 miles

I just caught the leak. Expansion tank was at the cold low line. 2nd time in a week. I usually drive 10 - 20 miles a day. I'm wondering what this is that's dripping? EDIT: Seems to be a small, short hose coming out of the thermostat housing.

Where is that in relation to the engine bay? Looks like it's near the firewall so could be the lines running to the heater core?

Edit, I see from your other thread there are additional photos. That looks like the thermostat housing. These are easily replaced and available in aluminum versions in the aftermarket. Ensure all the electric plugs and fixings are the same as your OEM piece.

I think you are right! Question is, is it the housing pipe outlet or the hose clamp? The hose is the one for the small-diameter outlet on the left side of the housing, or there is a crack where the two halves of the housing join.

It turns out the issue is a cracked thermostat housing. Total price quoted is under $700.00 including parts and 3-hours for labor. I understand the housing was revised in 2023. Hopefully I'll get the new part.

They quoted 3 hours for an easy job that doesn't require any significant disassembly? Ouch! And on a car that's only 6 years old with 24K on it.

This may be the tell-tale heart. I'd consider shelling out for replacement of ALL the plastic cooling ducts and lines in the engine bay. These will all eventually fail also.

They charge a diagnostic fee for about an hour that includes pressure testing. I gave them my photos, so they know where to look. Parts (purchased from the local Jag dealer parts dept) including coolant replacement comes to about $200.00 plus tax. This is an "indy" repair shop, not the dealer. I'm 75 so don't want to do this job myself. I don't have the required tools to pressure test or drain and capture coolant.

Aluminum version from ebay, but also available from other sellers
Aluminum Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Compatible with Jaguar

Ask your Indy guy if you can provide the part, of if he will order and install aluminum version. Aluminum version is not available from dealer.
You have a 2016, so you might need the version with the builtin sensor

I see a wide variation in the prices

Thanks, but I have a 2019 (not 2016) and the official Jag/Land Rover part was upgraded in 2023 so I'm going with that.
