Car won’t start in gear shift knob does not rise!!
OK, just heard back from the Jaguar service department. The issue was a power cable failure.
Service report says:
“diagnose and repair junction for main power cable”
Will cost $836 to do.
honestly not even sure what that means but it is what it is and hopefully that will fix everything!

Yeah I agree that the price seemed a bit on the high side.
The service guy called me on Friday late afternoon to tell me that the car is ready for pick up. I was out of town though and not able to pick up the car until early next week so still do not have it.
As i referenced above I am not very mechanically oriented. But how he explained it to me sounds like it was mostly labor anyway.
It sounds like there is a cable that runs from the front of the car to the middle of it. And then another one that runs from the middle of the car to the rear of the car where the battery is.
In the middle of the car is that “junction” that they are referring to.
And from what I gather it was quite corroded and needed to be repaired.
Once repaired they wrapped/sealed it multiple times in different types of stuff. Didn’t get any pictures and I’m guessing it’s too late to do that now anyway.
But the service guy did say that the way that his mechanic wrapped it I should not have any problems with that particular thing in the future.
He also did mention that this is a repair not a replacement. He mentioned that to do a full replace would be between three and $4000
So as far as the cost of the repair goes I look at it like this. They took my car in and had it fixed within 36 hours of me calling them. As we all know these service guys are booked up for several days if not weeks in advance.
I probably got charged a couple hundred extra dollars as a result but at this point it’s more of a convenience feature for me.
Money is very important but so is the time!
Now, this was something that I was being charged several thousand dollars on I would definitely be in there asking some major questions!!! LOl!!
Heck , just a few days ago I thought this might be an issue that could cost me big big money.
So, I guess it could’ve been worse. Let’s just hope I’m not back there in the next couple of weeks with the same issue!
Just want to say how much I appreciate everybody’s help on this form. You’ve all been great. Especially the folks that have PM’d be with your thoughts and suggestions on the issue.
We’ll done
