Default Homelink Retrofit

HI Jag owners, Monday my xj will go on service at the dealer, 72000 km.
I have retrofitted dab, surround meridian with 16 premium amplifier, antenna amplifiers and waiting for the tv module to arrive..so i will ask them if they can modify the ccf adding dab and amplifier settings.
I would like to put also the homelink rearview mirror.
Is there a different version for European and US Spec Cars ? I think newer homelink should do universal frequency and auto adaptation, i have searched on jaguar parts and specs but there seems to be no difference between the region settings.

Yes there are different frequencies depending on which geographic area the car was sold in. Not sure about the universal version as all of mine are just US versions but even then there were changes and I had to add the Homelink bridge to get mine to work with some garage openers.
Let us know if the dealer will modify the CCF? I don't think I have ever heard of one that would?

Some projects just aren't worth the cost to do. Adding the Homelink rear view mirror is one of them, since you can use the hand-held transmitter that came with your garage door or gate opener at no cost. Small, inexpensive accessory openers are also available.

Just curious - what is the total cost of the conversion, including parts (the new mirror) and labor (installation and programming)? And, as Clubairth1 pointed out, the Homelink mirror transmitter might not be compatible with your garage door receiver.

Mark, there are "translators" you can purchase (at least in the US) that mount in your garage. They can be programmed to receive the signalling scheme used in your XJ and re-broadcast it in a format your door opener will understand. No need to modify your car, opener, or remote. Here is the Homelink product used with Chamberlain Co. openers in the US. The website of your opener manufacturer probably has info on a similar product.

Yes that is the bridge I was talking about. Not sure if it works on his frequency?

A bridge just adds more cost to a project that already has a very high cost compared to the benefit, particularly if you already have the hand-held remote. I get it - some people just want the convenience and are willing to pay for it. Your money, your choice.

$35 for the Chamberlain/Liftmaster 855LM that works with both our cars and both doors. No more fumbling around in the dark. I recognize that some "translators" cost much more, but maybe worth at least investigating.

Bernie,
The OP wants to add the Homelink rear view mirror to his base model 2011 XJ 3.0 that doesn't have it. I question if it's worth the cost to do so. He hasn't replied to my question about the total cost of the conversion, including parts (the new mirror) and labor (installation and programming), but it's going to be expensive. It's a lot to spend when you already have the hand-held remote.

The mirror lists for $830 in the USA. The OP is in Italy and I have no idea what it costs there.

Have to agree with Stuart but I have never seen an XJ without Homelink either?
Maybe it was standard in the US and not in other markets?

Kind of silly too because is must be dirt cheap to add. My old 2003 Lincoln LS had it from the factory. Just about every mid to cheap priced Ford has had it for a decade or more now.

Sorry guys, I misread the OP. I'll blame it on screen fatigue ... feels like Whack-A-Mole trying to get a vaccine appointment.

I've had both of mine, the Moderna vaccine, and was easy here in Georgia as we registered on our state regional health district website. I got a call 2.5 weeks after registering and was given an appointment for the first and when there for that they gave me an appointment for the second which I had on February 19th. Felt weak and listless the day after and then no issues. Good luck getting yours.

Have you ever seen a 2011 XJ with a diesel engine in the USA? That's a very popular engine choice in Europe.
I suspect that to keep the XJ affordable, the factory made many things that are standard equipment on US models optional on European cars.
