If you are a new owner of the last of the great Jaguar sedans, the 2010-2019 XJ (aka X351), you should commit these items to memory. Most are detailed in the Owners Manual, but ..

1. Many used cars don't have an owners manual. I wonder what happened to them?
2. Even if you have one, if it's in the glove compartment, it won't do you any good in an emergency
3. The glove compartment opens only electronically. If the vehicle is electrically dead, the compartment is inaccessible.

How to properly jump-start an X351: The procedure is probably different than what you're used to. Turn Off the donor vehicle. Connect the Positive terminals. First the donor, then the disabled. Next the Negative cables. First the donor, then connect the Negative jumper cable to a suitable vehicle ground. There are two studs in the trunk for this. Do not connect to the disabled Negative battery terminal. Start the donor, wait a few minutes, then disconnect the cables in the exact reverse order.
