Default New X351 owners must know these quirks!

If you are a new owner of the last of the great Jaguar sedans, the 2010-2019 XJ (aka X351), you should commit these items to memory. Most are detailed in the Owners Manual, but ..
  1. Many used cars don't have an owners manual. I wonder what happened to them?
  2. Even if you have one, if it's in the glove compartment, it won't do you any good in an emergency
  3. The glove compartment opens only electronically. If the vehicle is electrically dead, the compartment is inaccessible.
How to gain entry to the car with a dead vehicle battery or a dead fob battery: Use the emergency metal key slot that lies behind a small cover on the driver's door. Check your manual or Search this forum to familiarize yourself with the procedure to access this key, as there are two styles of fobs. Make sure the fob you regularly carry contains an emergency key. Details

How to start the car with a dead fob battery: Hold the dead fob at a specific location on the vehicle dashboard. This is well-illustrated in Post #10 of this.

How to move the transmission into Neutral with a dead vehicle battery: The emergency transmission release is located under the pencil tray in the console. Be sure and block a wheel to prevent the car from rolling before proceeding. Details

How to safely jack up the car to change a tire without damaging the car: The unibody of the X351 can be twisted and damaged by improper jacking/hoisting Details.

How to properly jump-start an X351:
The procedure is probably different than what you're used to. Turn Off the donor vehicle. Connect the Positive terminals. First the donor, then the disabled. Next the Negative cables. First the donor, then connect the Negative jumper cable to a suitable vehicle ground. There are two studs in the trunk for this. Do not connect to the disabled Negative battery terminal. Start the donor, wait a few minutes, then disconnect the cables in the exact reverse order.

How to gain access to the trunk with a dead or missing battery: This is a Sticky located at the top of this sub-forum

Yeah what's the deal with that?
And it seems like there's always just 1 key too! Crazy!
